Draft
Just an emerging idea in my head . I like the american system of the draft, i think it s really cool to try to help the worst team to give em hope to join the leader. Now i can t get out of my head trying to apply this to BB.
Because of the race diversity, and for game balance i think it s not possible to do it with BB player (plus the fact i play in a very small league of 4 coach coaching 1 team each).
But i just got the idea to do it with competence, i explain :
we got 4 team, imagine we say there are 3 draft turn. We choose or pick randomly (i dunno yet) 12 skill and then everybody choose a skill turn by turn. Last team first. Coach can only choose a skill he can give to a player he own and give it to the player.
Btw i m not a well experimented coach and dunno how this can affect team or league balance.
Commentary ?

back in the foggy past (or 1998, whichever you prefer), we had a system for drafting "talent" at the beginning of a league, and in subsequent seasons... it had it's uses, but in the end it was scrapped just ebcause it was more paperwork...
basically, what we did was give each team 5 rolls on a set of tables tailored to the team in question... the team could then sign two of these players, paying the normal cost... after each quarterly tournament, we'd do another "crush" and you'd roll 3 players and could sign 1...
what the tables gave you was usually (about 60% of the time) a player bog-standard off your normal available player list, so it wasn't anything to even remember since you could buyt these guys anytime you wanted...
in some cases, though, you'd get something different... specifically, you'd either get a player from your normal roster with an extra skill (not experienced, they started at 0spp's, this was a bonus skill) OR a player from another roster.... the position, and in the latter case race of these players was always random.... (keeping it all totally random being very important to overall balance)
what we got from this was a bit of variety, as the odd non-roster player was popped into teams (we didn't use mixed-race or ally rules per se, you could have up to 2 non-roster players on your squad and they had to be obtained in drafts)... and also a handful of extra-skilled players running around the league to spice things up....
a player or two on any given roster with an extra skill, or that odd beastman on the dark elf roster didn't really unbalance the game, especially since it was statistically balanced through the league... it just gave us some extra adventure...
...in the end, we scrapped it because it was overhead... i might bring it back one day, though....
