Ok more thoughts on mixed race teams.
I have had a few goes at seeing what teams would look like if there was the 3/2/1 split (i.e. on player creation 1-3 D.Elf 4-5 Skaven 6 Orc) with the positional limits stated earlier (max 2 blitzers, 2 throwers, 1 big guy, 2 uniques etc) and I think that it looks pretty good.
Now I was also looking at how to get some foreign players into the mix and came up with these rules:
Position limits have to be obeyed but any team can have up to two players which are not from their team list (whether this be a 3/2/1 split or the pure race list). These players are given the skills Despised and Loner. Despised works as per normal but they are ALWAYS hit on pitch invasions and things thrown at them by the crowd regardless of which side rolled this on the kick-off table. This is to represent that they are lightning rods for both sets of fans.
Also, if they are pushed off the pitch then they have a +1 to injury roll for a similar reason.
But now for the good news. At the end of each season roll a D6 for each foreign player. If you roll a 6 (with a +1 modifier if you got promoted, won a league, whatever) then the player loses his Despised skill. If a player has already lost Despised and then rolls another 6 then they will lose their Loner skill. This is to simulate being accepted by fans and then eventual integration with the rest of the team.
The exception is that players that always come with Loner can never lose it (Big guys always stay dumb I'm afraid).
Losing/gaining despised/loner can then also be integrated into the random events table. I.e. a 'Foreign player wins over the fans and loses Despised' or 'Unsaviour incident involving a cheerleader means that he is now Despised again' (although obviously you have to be careful not to push the race angle too hard). Should a player leave a team with which he was unsettled and he becomes a foreigner then obviously he goes back to where he started with Despised and Loner with his new team.
Temporary Loner might also be something to consider if new players are signed. So they have Loner for the rest of the season but after the post-season then they lose it. But if you do this then maybe you have to think about some kind of corresponding benefit.

(Rules shamlessly stolen from http://bbowl.pendragonknights.co.uk/coaching.html and then tinkered with by me)
Special Coaches
Positional, (40k) no team may have more than 1 of each type of coach. These coaches provide the team with a special coaching re-roll once per game based on their speciality.
- Blocking: Allows a re-roll of any set of block dice
- Passing: Allows a re-roll of any pass or catch dice (including hand-offs)
- Rushing: Allows a re-roll of any dodge or exert dice
- Fouling: Allows a re-roll of any armour roll on a foul
When you employ a coach (or any other backroom staff) then you write a (1) after their name / position to signify their experience.
At the end of each season roll a D6 for each member of your backroom staff (with the exception of the head coach). If you roll a 1 then the staff member decides to retire. They are removed from the roster and the team value is adjusted accordingly.
If, however, you roll above their experience then the staff member gains more abilities. Haven't really worked this one out yet. Possible ideas are to allow coaches to act as more than one assistant coach and then in a few cases to allow them to have more than one coach roll. For cheerleaders probably doubling (tripling?) so one cheerleader that gains in experience can become the equivalent of 2 or 3. As I work more on this I will come back and work on these suggested rules.
Their experience number is then adjusted up by one to show that they have been in your employ for another hard season.

I acknowledge this is an old thread but I thought I should acknowledge Pac as I've ripped off the Quirks and added them to my league here. They'll be forming part of my annual aging cycle so cheers Pac. The pitch condition stuff I was going to be doing anyway and I haven't really ripped much Pac stuff on that one.
