How do you guys resolve ties?

Hi out there,
having played our first season in the league we are about to change our schedule to playing half-finals, finals and a seperate cup tournament.
Now the discusion is how to resolve ties in the final and the cup games without giving either the rough teams (like undead or dwarven) nor the running teams (like lizards or skaven) an advantage and without making it too time consuming. That's why we discarded the 2x4 turn overtime idea and are chewing heavily on the idea of playing a rematch.
So here's the question: How do you do it?
Thanks for your advice.
Bowl on,
Marcus

We play overtime, 1x8 turns, no golden goal, team with more TD thereafter is match winner. If it's still tied then penalty shoot out (= dice roll decides).

We play 2 turns of 4 Over Time. The last turn of OT will go all the way until the game has been decided so could last 24 turns!
Not sure if that ever happened, but we did have some very very long games!

Normally we've just used the rules in the book. One alternative is to give the 1st turn to the kicking team (so kicking team sets up, receiving team sets up, then kicking team's turn 1).

We follow the book. 1x8 sudden death overtime, followed by a die roll if no one scored.

We are going for golden goal. Turns will be unlimeted up to the next TD.
Die roll deceide who gets the Kick Off return.

Yeah, just make sure you go first or

.
We just call a draw a draw. If there must be a win/loss result, like a final or play off, then we have a rematch.

Best way to run Overtimes IMO.

Our Chaos Dwarf coach (who else...) came up with an idea which we will have I think.
Before OT is startet, a chest is placed in each corner of the field. 3 contain a bomb and one contains the ball. And then game continues till 1st TD. Gives all kinds of teams equal chances I guess.
I'll give a report when and if it works.

Would that chest idea change so much? that way, every team sets up 2 players right besides the boxes and the game starts almost instantly. It's just that you don't know, who gets the ball. So why don't you roll for the kickoff. It should do the same (or am i missing something?)

When tied at the bottom of the 2nd half we do a 3rd half, normal rules for a half, but only use RR's left from 2nd half.
If that a tie, then a tie.
In the case (like our last 2 semifinals) of a tie at the end of the 3rd half, we had a rematch.
In reading this, and because we don't want to loose our third half, i'll suggest to our league that (in the case of finals etc) if the teams are tied at the end of the third half, the turns continue on till someone scores.

We're going for the book way - not the best, but at least I don't have to add another set of houserules late in the league.
Plus, seeing as I made the semi-s (Yay!

) it's probably better if I don't give them anything else they can use as "ammo" for thinking it's a fix!
just because I've gone a W7, T1, L0 in the regular season (as opposed to about a 30% win record in every other game I play) they think I've cheated!

We use something similar to a soccer penalty shoot-out.
Nominate 5 players each team (no ko or cas), first player team A than team B and so on, place the ball in the middle of the field, 7 squares towards one end-zone.
Test for negative skills like wild animal, maybe no kick!
D6+GE>=7 (for the right direction), no? use throw-in template for random direction than/if yes, carry one
D6+ST>=7 (for the range), no? use scatter template 3 times in order to reach the goal than/if yes scream "strike" it's a fieldgoal (no spp)
Draw after 5 players? Each team nominate another player.
Very exciting and it doesn't need a lot of time. A little difficult for flings and gobbos but hey, the ARE fun-teams.

If a result is that badly needed, my league simply plays till there's a score (sudden death/golden goal overtime). If there's no score after the first 8-turn OT, we kick off again as if it were halftime and keep going that way. We had an overtime match go into the third half of OT, so at that point the teams dice off for kickoff as if it were the start of the game or the start of overtime.
In league play, we play 1x8 and if no score comes about, it's left a draw.
