The subject says it all really, does your league house-rule LRB 5? If so, what house-rules do you use and who is the Commish?

I voted yes, but I am in two leagues. The big one iwth ~ 20 players uses the rules almost straight as it is. I think the only change is they allow stars in the cups games.

My personal two man league with each of us playing 5 teams is full of house rules.

We have draft rules for rookies (they have random starting skills, very chaotic, but fun)

We use the on pitch wizards rule from MBBL2 but for linemen only and the cost is only +30K. Have modified a bunch of spells as well.

Lots of team tweaks and new teams (Beastmen, Clan skaven teams, etc.)

Every team has 2 new players (1 wizard and 1 secret weapon player) which are added to the roster.

Secret weapons require a roll to be caught like in LRB 4 but we use a d6

Death roller, 2+, Chainsaw and ball and chain 3+, bombs 4+, pogo stick 5+, knife 6+, plus a bunch of new weapons (throwing stars, whip, bluderbuss (all 5+).

We used some inducements and a tiered handicap table that follows the ideas of LRB 5 inducements (i.e. no handicap can take an opposing player away, they are all minor boons to your team).

I can go on and on...

But it is very fun! It is easy to manage as it is just two people. Our teams are set up in divisions (his in one, mine in another) and you play every team in the other division twice in a scheduled format.

LRB5 league - :(

However, as the resident BB guy (can't say best BB coach since Spiky 2006  ) I've ended up commishing it.

Yes, we have houserules - no Stars, no Mercs, no cards( :( ).

Just a footnote that I don't consider these house rules really as they are items suggested on the Optional rules page.

It more like saying which Optional rules you are enforcing. When I think of House Rules I think of something outside the rulebook.

This is not really directed at Darkson ... more just a comment that I think the definition of House Rules has changed since the old days.

We have three house rules I know of, one is an accident, one is on purpose:

1) Every team gets a free 50k card before the game. (I hate this rule, it is way too easy for an overdog to get a good card, and many of the 50K cards are quasi-useless for low TV teams, but great on a high TV one.)

2) OT must be played unless both coaches agree to cancel it (this rule was changed 2 seasons ago, when the rule was that OT was mandatory no matter what.)

3) Winnings in the playoffs are supplemented, an extra 50K for the semi-finals and finals

Rule 2 was a mistake, it was a rule which replaced the winnings in LRB 4, but with double winnings in LRB 5, it actually just adds money! I'm sure this will be ruled against at some point.

We have a bounty system
Slann, Underworld, CPact,
New star players,
Most of the MBBL new rules (Diving catch, Riot, cheap bribes etc)
Tackle Vs Right stuff (At the moment but that may change)
100k in free cards for both teams (1x 100, 2x 50 or add 100 to your inducement money to get a 200 or 400 card)
No team may induce more that 5 cards
No OT other than tournies
Dungeon match at mid season

I think thats about it...

We use a variant 7s rules. Similar to the Tom Merrigan rules
- no stars
- no team/leader re-rolls (so no leader skill)
- reduced throwing range (75%, not "increase by one")
- reduced pitch size
- LoS for each team is 6 squares apart
- 6 rounds per half
- smaller roster (11 max)
- 600k start and smaller spiralling expenses table

Additionally, we impose a 75% positional count (max 3 blitzers on a human team, etc.). And to help with the no team/leader re-rolls thing, rerolls from kick-off table don't expire at half time. Riots are shorter (1d3, I think).

And as per the optional rule, MVPs are allocated, not random.

All of this was done with the aim of fitting in two games per evening. Hasn't sped things up as much as we'd have liked, but it's still an addictive form of the game, and we can easily get in 4 games each on a weekend day (even if the 4th game is a little drunken..).

Yes, but not that much:

*It is a short league, so we use the old skill breaks (6, 11, 26...)
*5 new teams: Underworld, Pact and Slann from MBBL. + Bretonnians and Daemons.
*Also, we'll house rule Halflings shortly, to have ogres instead of Treemen.
*If a coach exceeds his 4-minute time limit, it's an IP, not a turnover.
*If a coach makes an illegal set-up for a kick-off, his opponent is allowed to correct the set-up.
*We use 50K bribes for gobbo and underworld. 50K chef for halflings.

Cheers
Martin

In playoffs (except for the finals) the higher seeded team gets Home Field advantage, which is +1 FAME for the kickoff table.

We
- allow gobbos secret wepons to gain spp per cas,
- do not force secret weapons to be fielded when less than 11 players,
- apply the "rightstuff cancels tackle"-rule,
- will do something (still discussed) for 'Flings,
- titchy always adds +1 to landing (even with ball),
- pump waggon still a starplayer
- bloodlust bites are limited to badly hurt maximum

-> so we lessened the gaps between the tier 1&2 and 3 teams.

We have an Open League and a Closed League with a fixed match schedule. In both our leagues, we use the LRB 5 straight from the book with some of the optional rules applied. As Galak said, those shouldn't be considered houserules.

Now that I think of it, we don't use the 4 minute time limit and the illegal procedure for not moving your turn marker. IMHO, the 4 minute rule is a great thing (we used it for a while) but we have some newer players and we do play some matches per mail. It wouldn't be fair to use it in some games and not in others, so we don't use it at all. IP for not moving the turn marker is just plain stupid, we've used it when I began playing Blood Bowl, it's a source of bad blood and anti-fun.

But I don't think these modifications are house rules either. How can it be a house rule if 90% of those leagues out there use it ?
