After looking through some old BB books i found lots of rules for pub leagues and skaven/dwarf leagues.
Has anyone done leagues like this and how did it work out?

believe woody and del did a human only pub league once (one of each positional, no big guy and everyone had one of the old style niggles)
they said it was fun but stat increases really give a big advantage to whoever gets them, so best to ban stat increases
believe all the players had a niggle to represent them not showing up some times (as happens in pub teams)
of course the niggle rule has changed now but nothing stopping you still rolling for each player like the old rule

Don't call it a "Niggle" call it "Family Comitments" roll!

We did a human only league under full LRB5 rules and it was very good. It was interesting to see how each coach developed their team so differently.
As an aside, we found that a passing human team with just a couple of killers (tackle, MB) backed up by a few guards was the most succesful combo in our league. The two teams that did this rapidly became dominant. That league was abandoned as our regular group became larger so we never really got to see the impact of inducements as the TV gap widened.

When you know you are playing a team of a certain race it gets easier to optimise your build to beat them.

The rules are in the BB Annual 2002, No good i know if you don't have the book.
Taken from the book:
1 Total money is 750,00
2 Max number of players 14
3 lineman 0-14
4 0-2 from any other slots but not two the same
5 No wizards, big guys or star players
6 Only choose random events and special play cards
7 all lineman start with a niggle ( guess that would be the old school stlye of niggle)
Fans as normal but dont multiply the results
No deaths.
hope someone has it online for you, but it looks like a fun league to play in.

0-2 from other slots, but not the same: i.e. not 2 blitzers, but 1 catcher and 1 blitzer.
Correct ?
Still 8 turns per half ?
Sounds like fun. Thanks !

Yes, I'll think of that. And I do like the 'old" niggle (miss if rolled a 1) rules for this.

How about this?
75k to start, do not track TV
0-16 Linemen, 5k TRRs, 5k Apoth, 2k AC, 2k CL
No FF, FAME=0 (if you can draw 2d6k people, it ain't a pub match; besides, see kickoff table, below).
Winnings roll (1d3+1)k, no SE.
No inducements, but KO rolls are all 3+ (players paid mostly in hooch)
Journeymen are 5/2/2/7 Loner; gain one-time +1 everything if hired.
Pub matches tend to have poor crowd control and tend to be played off-schedule. For this reason, roll twice on the Kickoff Table each kickoff and apply both results. If you don't double the price of the AC and CL, they'll be a good bargain instead of a poor one.
I too like the "everyone niggles" idea, but I find the Sweltering Heat mechanic annoying. How about this instead?
Before each match, each coach rolls 2d6
2: 4 players missing (randomize)
3: 3 players missing
4: 2 players missing
5-6: 1 player missing
7-9: Everyone shows!
10-12: "Can I play?" Free Journeyman as 12th-17th player.
Pub Player Table
0-5: Rookie (0)
6-15: Experienced (1)
16-25: Veteran (2)
26-35: Pub Star (3)
36-50: Pub Superstar (4)
51+: Too cool for your team: the player either goes pro or retires. But you gain 50,000 GC, a permanent +1 Fan Factor and respect around the league.
Pub Improvement Table
2-6: New G skill
7: New P skill
8-9: New A or S skill
10: New G skill or +1 MA
11-12: New G skill or +1 AV
Doubles: May select G, A, P or S skill

Like the kick of table, so both coaches have to roll on it?
I wouldn't mind trying this in my league but we are in the middle of a league at the present. Maybe i'll put it out on my forum and see if there are any takers. Could do a street ball style one to try and do it in a night.e
