Just wondering where Bretonians went

[mod hat on] Moved from LRB 6.0 Experimental Rules Feedback, as it's not an experimental rule for 6.0 - Darkson [/mod hat off]

I had printed out the LRB 5.0 and then the experimental teams at the time that were listed (Chaos Pact, Underworld, Slann and Bretonian) I now see only 3 of those teams remaining the Bretonians now gone. My friend was interested in playing Brets next league just wondering are they completely gone, or did they already pass as a fair team or are they not even being considered anymore? Any and all feedback welcome

brettonians have never been anything more than house rules

they were never experimental

this is the blood bowl universe not the warhammer one

I agree and I understand, just seeing how they were listed in the print out I had (once again I printed it like a year ago so I don't know where I got it from.) But thank you for the insight

can't help you out where you got it, but it wasn't in the BBRC approved list that the other three were

might find it in the house rules section though

there have been a few different line ups for brettonians iirc, though I'm not a fan so paid no interest in them ;]

Well he liked the look of them the list I found even seemed interesting I think it was house rules I found it in. The list interested him looking something like this

0-16 Linemen 60K 6/3/3/7
Agility access

0-4 Yeomen 80K 7/3/3/8 Wrestle 80K
General Strength access

0-4 Blitzers Block, Juggernaut another skill I can't remember 120K
General, Strength

I think thats what it looked like but with like 60K for rerolls he liked it I'll probably let him try them out.

Hi Bizzy,
IIRC, in the early stages of the vault process, Bretonnians might have made it to experimental status, but they were always underdogs in that respect, and they never made it to experimental status.

They're a house rule in the MBBL, and a handful of other leagues I know about.
They're a tier 1 team, outside of the top 5.

You can read more about the team here:
http://www.plasmoids.dk/bbowl/BBBretonnians.htm

Enjoy :D
Cheers
Martin

I'll try asking again.

Why would the practically begging to be created and played Brettonia team be overlooked, while many other races of the warhammer world has multiple teams?

No team captured the imagination of the powers that be or the overall community, and there just wasn't enough interest.

Some individuals love the idea, and others have really liked specific rosters, but there are some who just hate the concept entirely... and they are a very vocal group. But the majority of us would probably welcome an interesting Brettonian team if there were available miniatures and really added something new to the game.

But there is a norse, amazon and now mostly marauder roster. The Bret=Human argument is just a strawman.

Jural nailed it: there is a vocal minority that kick and scream whenever the idea gets revisited.

Plasmoid's Bret roster is better (balanced+fun) than some official rosters.

Thanks Jural.

I agree that there are ppl out there who would welcome playing that team; I happen to know a few.

I can only hope the design team comes to their senses, one day pretty soon.

Saying the BB world isn't the warhammer world is pure, undiluted nonsense.

Saying the Empire team encompasses the brettonian spirit not much better.

It won't happen parintachin. We play-tested the Bret roster in the same league where a lot of the LRB6 experiments started out. Galak was quite nice about it and let us help Plasmoid refine the roster in a real play-testing environment, but it was clearly not going to be accepted for LRB6 which means several years before the roster can even be reconsidered for inclusion.

You could always house-rule it though. It's a well-designed roster and would not break the game-balance of an existing league if you implemented it.

Well, it's like saying the discworld is like normal, todays earth. :)

I see the BB-world more as a parallel universe, more "steam-punk" than the current world of WHFB. SO yeah, Brets dont belong there.
Neither do deamon-based teams (deamonnettes, bloodletters, and so on) btw.

Just IMHO of course... 8)
