Cultist Team - reactions?

Hi All,

In our league (http://okapi.andrew.cmu.edu/TRAVL - click on the Teams in TRAVL link, then Brotherhood to see pics of the team) we have some non-standard teams. I was talking to the league coordinator the other night and he was curious as to what folks on TBB might think of some of our teams.

We currently play LRB5.

Team: Cultist
0-16 Initiate 70,000 6337 Shadowing, Stand Firm GS/AP
0-4 Acolyte 80,000 7337 Dodge, Sidestep GA/SP
0-1 High Priest 90,000 6337 Hypnotic Gaze, Nerves of Steel, Pass, Sure Hands GP/AS
0-8 Rerolls 50,000

The team (Brotherhood of Ecaep) has played 9 games. 5 Wins, 4 Losses, no Ties.

Having played through one season, they roster looks like this:

1 High Priest - 6337, Dauntless, HypGaze, NoS, Pass, Sure Hands, Accurate - 40SPPs

1 Acolyte- 7336, BloDge, Side Step, (-1 AV) - 26SPPs
1 Acolyte- 7337, BloDge, Side Step - 14SPPs
1 Acolyte- 7337, Dodge, Side Step - 2 SPPs

1 Initiate- 6337, Shadowing, Stand Firm, Guard, Dodge - 19SPPs
2 Initiates- 6337, Shadowing, Stand Firm, Block - 7 and 9 SPSs
1 Initiate- 6337, Shadowing, Stand Firm, (Niggling) - 2 SPPs
3 Initiates- 6337, Shadowing, Stand Firm - 1, 2 and 4 SPPs
1 Initiate - 5337, Shadowing, Stand Firm, Block, (-1 MA) - 8 SPPs
1 Initiate - 6337, Shadowing, Stand Firm, Guard - 9 SPPs

4 Rerolls, 5 Fan Factor, 1 AC, 1 Cheerleader, 1 Apoth, 60k in the bank.

Our league tends to not trim TV, rather liking to fill out full rosters. Yes, we're strange that way. We like the minis and like to have 16 plus sideline figs when we can. :)

So, comments? Thoughts? We won't be playing with this team for a while, so there won't be any short-term development.

Too many skills. My instinct would be to make them buy the positioning skills, and take Pass and SH off the Priest. Hobs with Shadowing and GA would be cool at 50k, if TRRs are 60k and positionals are solid values without too many skills. Maybe a blocker type? And if you want to be Warhammery, any generic Cultist team should have a Zealot available, with Frenzy.

0-16 Cultist: 6/3/3/7 Shadowing GA/SP 50k
0-2 Acolyte: 7/3/3/7 Dodge, Shadowing GA/SP 80k
0-2 Enforcer: 5/3/3/8 Stand Firm, Tackle, Thick Skull GS/AP 80k
0-2 Priest: 6/3/3/7 Hypnotic Gaze, Nerves of Steel GP/AS 80k
0-2 Zealot: 6/3/3/7 Dauntless, Frenzy, Jump Up GS/AP 80k
TRR: 60k

Then have a High Priest as a Star Player. Make him really cool and really expensive.

This team would be fun to construct. 1M-550k=450k=15 units. 1TRR/Apo/reserve=2 units, 1 positional=1 unit. Budget 3 TRRs, and that leaves you a reserve and 7 positionals, with 10k in the bank.

You could also give the Priest a skill to make him 90k. But it should be Priestly rather than Thrower-y. Leader would be fluffy but it's too powerful. Fend? Stand Firm? AV7/Stand Firm is funny.

Ooh...
0-2 Priest 6/3/3/8 Disturbing Presence, Hypnotic Gaze, Nerves of Steel GP/AS 100k

mattgslater,

Neat ideas. Thanks! The figures that we used, and which this team was built around are hooded monks. Acolytes are standing 'arms open', palms up while Initiates have their arms folded in front of them. The High Priest (modified) has a blue glowing energy field levitating a ball.

The idea for these guys (and another reason they don't have heavy blockers or frenzy players) is that they play BB as a religious thing, but are very non-violent. No player on the Brotherhood team has ever fouled or pushed a player into the crowd.

Here's a pic of the team (if I can get this to work):

Peaceful. :)

Thanks for the comments!

Nice team, I like them (the picture that is).

I have no real idea about the make-up of the team (yet), but they dont seem overpowerd at first glance. But the suggestions Matt posted are good ones, I think.

Nifty ! :)

Thanks JaM,

They don't seem to be an over-the-top team. In play, they do OK, but (as you can see by their record), they're not great.

They are pretty cool minis though. :)

Yes, and that's what I like about them.

Now, those reptiliads, on the other hand... :-? Hmm. Too good IMHO.
But to come up with something like this, AND pull it off mini-wise, very nice !
