Well any sport that France can win is probably girlie to begin with.

As for our "world" championships...We let Canada in, it's not our fault that they can't win! And the Super Bowl "world" champions are just that. Name one other country's Handmelon team that could compete with one of ours?

The Frankfurt Galaxies might have a shot at not getting sent to the hospital.

Eddie Izzard (a brit) does this hilarious routine about the word history and the United States being incompatible .... I love it because its so true.

Of course in the same routine he does a very nice spoof of how England took over a lot of the world simply by asking if their country had a flag yet. If not ... well they were now part of England and here is a flag ...

That's kind of the point isn't it? No-one else really plays it. We don't hold a World Series of Australian Rules Football in Australia because we're not going to pretend that it's any kind of World event if the World doesn't play it.

Just because no-one could compete with Australia at it does not mean grand finalists go around calling themselves World Champions.

Hockey.

Elements of Football (soccer), Football, Rugby, and Blood Bowl... :)

What other sport allows fighting?? Has "plays" like football (soccer), Football and Rugby? And is all at a pace as fast as it is??
So I'm sitting here thinking, "Hockey? Elements of footie, American Football, rugby and BB? the game where they run around hitting a ball with sticks?"
AND is played on ICE (read:Astrogranite)?
And then I realise, he means ICE HOCKEY. Hockey is a game played on grass that we brits were good at before everyone else learnt to play.

Ice Hockey's only good if you're watching the minors.

(Then again, I usually prefer the bush leagues for some reason)

Hum, I made a mistakewhen talking about France/USA sport confrontations. It seems the only sport where the USA can beat France is Basket... in women category.. Erm, what did you talk about ? Girlie ? ;)

  Here's what I can't stand. 1/ Adding Canada doesn' t make a "world series" in sport. At least a "north american series" 2/ Ask for Cuba in baseball, Yugoslavia in basket how kicking thei a** to the american in sports they felt so strong (baseball, basket)... We could talk about hockey too, BTW... A day will come where you will loose your leardership in [American] football... if this sport should become something different than a very national sport (see NFL Europe disater to see work to do).

No offence meant with it. Only the fact that more than 5 billion people live outside the USA.

That's just because you're ignorant. They never called anything World Championship. The World Series in baseball are called like that because they were initially sponsored by a newspaper called the World, and kept that name afterwards out of tradition. It makes sense when you think about it.

I hate soccer, it sucks. I'm officially not posting in this thread anymore because it doesn't make any sense to call it football in a forum about Blood Bowl, and it's just too confusing. And i'll be making fun of anyone calling soccer football in any other thread from now on. If you don't like it, tough luck.

Yeah I know man. I was just teasing!

I get a little bit offended when I hear ppl label American as self-centered. Okay, I know it's true but I try to pay attention to the rest of the world!

There are only as many self-involved Americans as there are snotty Frenchmen.

Bryan Adams? Didn't we apologize for him already?

At least our National past-time doesn't keep going on strike because of a bunch of greedy players and owners almost 9 times in 20+ years.

Though I never miss a Auzzy Rules final, Premiership to use the right term, even if it means I sleep at work the next day. And World Rugby and Football, that's what portable TV is for. (Complete with Satallite
Hook-up courtesy of the Federal Government.)

Though nothing beats watching players bounce high into the air after they've been viciously slammed to the ground...I love the CFL.

manusate wrote:I agree Marcus, north american handmelon is quite slow. You are watching a supposedly spectacular match full of adrenaline... but they just seem to stop the action before it really starts, and next thing you know is Enrique Iglesias singing some bullshit in the middle of the field. That´s not serious man. I mean... Enrique Iglesias. What´s that, a sport or a nightmare music festival?

And there is this helmet thing. Real men don´t wear helmets. Helmets are for faggots. Plus, 45 people in a team seems way too much for me. They are supposed to invade some small country after the game or what? 45 five players. For god´s sake.

Let me tell you one more thing, I have a friend who lived in the States for a year (when he was 16 or so). When the coach of the Highschool saw him playing football with the girls, he knew he had a new kicker for the school´s handmelon team. He was chosen Most Valuable Player of the Season, because he was really good kicking. But he didn´t even know the damm rules. He didn´t know how to play handmelon AT ALL. He just was wearing this silly helmet around and kicking the ball when he was asked to.

I mean, can you imagine a serious sport where a guy that doesn´t know how to play can still be chosen MVP of the year?

Well that sport MUST be kinda silly, huh?
apart from the topic subject about wich i don t want to talk because i like soccer, american football, football and football (the other one) to make everyone happy, i just want to say that post make me ROFL for 10 minutes ...
