I'll have a think about the pictures....

However, I suspect I cannot do anything. Remember though, once you have set the pictures up in the PBEM tool, after each game, when you update the roster html, the pictures are kept. So setting them up is a one time problem. In addition, there could be more issues with Coaches wanting to select non standard pictures etc.

I'll add it to the list... but... don't count your chickens.....

When using the PBEM tool, I recommend setting up a standard set of picture refs for each team. If you save this whenever you need to set up a new team, you can just copy them over from the saved file you created. If you set your teams up using the same numbers then you'll never have to change them.

This is what I have done for RABBL. Here are the standard lists I am using (another lot of work I'm giving you for free!) (you may need to change some of the refs but most of it should be complete - just fit your set up around the pictures):-

When I first tried to export an HTML from a starting roster, it didn't work, giving an error mesage and an option to debug. In the debug screen, it highlighted a line which sets the save path:

ActiveWorkbook.SaveAs Filename:="C:\BB Team HTMLs\NewTeam.html", FileFormat _
:=xlHtml, ReadOnlyRecommended:=False, CreateBackup:=False

The file didn't save because the folder 'BB Team HTMLs' didn't exist. There may also be an issue of file/folder security/permissions in some circumstances. Change this file path to a more suitable location (I hate stuff being saved to root!), either through debugging or by editing the HTMLise_Start_Roster macro.

I will be adding some of Galak's MBBL2 skills and players as we use those rules locally and this makes it easy.

You need to set up the directory called:-

C:\BB Team HTMLs

to save the htmls (its not the root!)

This is hard coded and needs to be in the way i've done the macros.

Sorry, I was thinking of the folder itself when refering to root. It's just the way that Win 2000 is setup discourages stuffing folders or files into root. If that is the way it must be, though, I'll reluctantly do it. I haven't tested it for league purposes, yet; I mainly wanted the HTML output for use with SkiJunkie's Javabowl utility (see thread; it doesn't work, yet, but SkiJunkie is looking at it); the macro worked after I edited it - surely this wouldn't effect the internal workings of the spreadsheet, would it?

Any chance of adding a notes page where you can type up the history of the team.

When i create a new team i always like to give them some sort of history just for flavour and a bit of fun.

While i appreciate i could just insert a new page, i woudn't know how to link it, to the html output.

Oh yeah. I am going on an advanced excel course in about a months time so i may be able to address the problem re the html output in 97.

All i've got to do is pass it off as work.

Hi Dave,

I'm having a problem with your tracker..... could you help?

I have set up my teams, saved them as HTML in the folder that you have to set up on C: (everything seems fine)

However the teams will not load into the game tool.

From the old tracker program, when you load a team the team name comes up and it asks if you want to play that team. However loading a team produced by yours it says in the log that a team has loaded, but the name does not appear & ask if you are playing that team then go onto weather table etc. You therefore cannot continue to play a game. Although you can view the team using the appropriate button on the tool.

**I have just followed your instructions in the Macros section: Loaded the newteam.html into the BBRoster saved as my team name and used the change name button - now when I try loading the rosta it comes up with "I/O error 32"!**

Any suggestions?

There are a couple of things that could be wrong:-

Did you type in your team name after opening the team html in Excel and pressing the "Change Title" button (a window opens and you must type the team name there)?

When loading the team html have you made sure that the set up options match the html of the team... ie if you have an "other" column in the html have you set the PBEM tool up to use the "Other" column? (or vice versa).

If this doesn't solve your problem, email the html to me and I'll look at it.

Dave. If i want to create a new team and i want a different option to the Head Coach. How do i set that up. IE Necromancer, Alchemist etc.

The current version automatically changes the "Team Wizard" option to "Team Necromancer" (Undead) or "Team Alchemist" (Dwarf) or "Master Chef" (Halfling).

However, there is currently no option to allow new teams to change the wording (from Team Wizard)...


That said, I am working on a new version (although I haven't done that much recently)! This will allow you to change the cost of the Wizard to whatever is used locally. In addition, I can add a feature where you can allocate a different option to a Wizard by team. This will be fairly straight forward. Is the following list complete?

Team Wizard
Team Necromancer
Team Alchemist
Master Chef

Or are there other options? In addition, is there a need to have more than one type of Wizard per team (if the answer to this last one is yes.... its a problem!)?
