To leap over a resolute defender and score a TD..
or to leap over something dangerous in Dungeonbowl...
my wife leaped her wardancer over my 2 black orcs which were blocking the final corridor down to my end zone... very infuriating it was too!!

I've always thought it should cost three squares...the one you jump over, a theoretical square in the air, and the landing square.
But then again, I'm a pointy-ear hating dwarf

Thadrin: by reading you, you told the same thing than Norse or me... when talking about 2 squares, I guess it's like you noticed, ie the first square takes 2 points of movement: unless it, it would be a normal movement ( ie the square you jump over, and the landing square= normal movement... Not sure I'm clear...)Thadrin wrote:I've always thought it should cost three squares...the one you jump over, a theoretical square in the air, and the landing square.

About handicaps for jump over, let's say a scottish dwarf, living in sweden, won't have any handicap... due to the wings on his helmet

Dave
Now if i read Dave Correctly, a Leap costs NOTHING, but you do not GAIN an extra square as well.
If i read FrenchyDwarf correctly, a Leap costs ONE Square (Like A Blitz, without using the Follow up)
Help me i am more confused than before ! ^^

What about having tackle affecting Leap.?
Say, a -1 modifier?
Or no re-roll on the leap.
It just seems strange that their is no skill that can be used against it.
Tackle affects dodge so couldnt also affect leap.
'A player may not use Leap if he is in the TZ of a player with Tackle'
Or something like that
If somebody was jumping over my head I'd sure as hell be grabbing their legs.

OK, let's say the dwarf Grumble has MA4, AG2 and the Leap skill (which he took on a double, of course). Consider the following diagram:Toby wrote:Help me i am more confused than before ! ^^
OOOOOOOO
OOOEOOOO
OTOEOOOO
OOOEOOOO
OOOOOOOO
where O is an empty square and E is an elf. Now Grumble decides he is going to leap over the elves, so he moves one square up to the elves. He leaps (and rolls a 6 so succeeds) over the elves. If the elves hadn't been there it would have taken 3 squares of his allowance to move there, and using the leap it still used 3 squares of his allowance. This means he can continue moving for one more square, so he dodges out of the elves tackle zone (rolling a 5 to succeed). This has used all his movement:
OOOOOOOOO
OOOEOOOOO
OOOEOTOOO
OOOEOOOOO
OOOOOOOOO
Grumble decides to keep moving. He goes for it, rolls a 1 and falls over. The opposing coach rolls five 6s in a row and Grumble dies a horrible death. Serves him right for being a show-off elf leaper really!

Hope that helps,
Martyn
P.S. I did once suggest that a friend of mine takes Leap on a dwarf that had rolled a double. For some reason, he decided this wasn't a good idea. Some people have no sense of adventure!
