Star Players in the October Review

Well the October review is nearly upon us and I wonder if there is any interest in new Star Players.

Many Tournaments discourage or outright forbid Star Players (for good reasons that I'm not going to list) but they do provide colour, history and a bit of fun in many other games. So what about a bit more even-handedness with them? We have 23 official ones already. Why not provide them for all the teams and whilst we are at it, revive some glorious heroes of the past?

My choices for inclusion (and note no new skills/rules).

Nikita de Besson - Amazonian Catcher, ex-nun and all round hottie.
Arfie Shortzenegger - Halfling but would play for Amazons as he is obviously part Pygmy.
Frank N.Stein - In BBMag3 by proxy but great model and mummy replacement for new (experimental) Undead.
Wilhelm Chaney - Werewolves may become Official anyway but if not, Wilhelm should be here.
Stuka Schmidt - The infamous dwarf thrower.
Ramtut III - The oldest player in the history of the game would provide Khemri with a real Star.
Hoshi Komi - The Martial Artist Catcher is a great model and a great character.
Katchmi'ifyukan - The Hall of Famer Skink that is as fast as lightning.
Bilerot Vomitflesh - The Nurgle Warrior with a name to literally die for.
Glart Smashrip - The famous Obese Skaven that was designed by Jervis 15 years ago.

Okay. So what does everybody think? New Star Players? Who would you like to see revived???

I'm not starting a discussion on whether we have Star Players or not. Simply who from the wonderfully colourful past of BloodBowl would people like to see revived (remember they won't be).

Thanks for vomiting on my first post.

My apologies, I have deleted my own post as some measure of apology in it's own right.

Belatedly Welcome to the Board, I would warn you to beware of the troll. but it has been almost a season since he last posted and he would love your topic anyway so no worries there.

The every fig=rule rule=fig mantra of JJ should help you with a few of them, and in light of BBMag 3 and the new undead experimental rules you may do well with this.

didn't mean to get off on the wrong foot. :(

V_UK, have you been offending newbies?

I thought that was my role in this place...

On the subject of stars, I think the fewer the better, and I know a lot of others agree that too many people put them in a starting roster to cover their own failings and shortcomings as a coach.

I don't use them. I have never used them. I probably will never use them. But I'm OK with others using them if they like them. Like most things GW, it's a great shame the nicest figs are the ones that get used least....

Anyway Geggster, welcome, and please ignore V_UK, he's an uncouth Essex man who knows no better... :P

Next season we are getting rid of Stars completely. About time too.

Okay so there aren't too many that like Star Players out there and the TBBF plan on removing them altogether from their League (absolutely great site Anthony).

But let's get one thing straight. No more conversation on this thread about the inclusion of star players making up for the lack of skill of the coach.

Doesn't anybody have a player that would like to see added to the Star Player list? Or are we worried that if we do, we are labelled second class players by the rest of the community? No offence Norse.

Geggster.

Just use them on your team in place of the usual players that receive skill upgrades.

Not true! Not true!

I've backed your bring back the Snotling idea since the board begun!
