Monthly Poll time again. Last time we tried a poll on price and teams. This time around, quite simply 'How long does it take you to play a game of Blood Bowl tabletop on average?

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
None of them fit for me.
1hr to 1.5hrs (occasionally going to 2hrs) if it's a tournament game (so a given timeframe).
2hrs+ if I'm playing a game at the club, as we chat, sometimes more than we're playing.

Currently an ex-Blood Bowl coach, most likely to be found dying to Armoured Skeletons in the frozen ruins of Felstad, or bleeding into the arena sands of Rome or burning rubber for Mars' entertainment.

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
I've never had a TT game go anywhere near 3 hours. Ok maybe if you're buddies and going beverage and toilet breaks it may go over 2.5....but over 3? Ouch on that. Personally I think you need many more options from 60 mins onward. 60-100 min must be the norm.

3 hour match? My group can get 2 matches done in that time, including chat, beverages and smoke breaks.
Though there is one match currently ongoing as I type. It started on Wednesday and is being finished today. Two of the league players are staff at the shop we play at and get easily distracted when playing and working at the same time.

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
As we play 2 league games a night, we keep to 2 hours per.
This way, we all get to play a game of SAGA, too!
While my Hobgoblins arn't doing well

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
I went with 2 hours. Usually I finish a game in a bit over 100 minutes but it does depend on opponent and if it is a play off match (which could go on longer with overtime). My longest game was a 4 hour quarter final match which I won on turn 16 having been trying to not rush my opponent, who is known to be a slow player, all game.
At the local club I think the worst was a 7 hour match over two evenings; fortunatly I was not in that one!

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
You should add a 2.5 hour option.
Most of my games run 2 hours or slightly over. But more over than under, and you're asking for an average.
I assume 15 minutes is some kind of joke. Or maybe there's one guy who always just ragequits after a turn or two.

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
Edit: Forgot to mention, I added a 2.5 hour option and removed the 15 minutes one.
Usually I get stuck teaching the game, so it always runs long.
I think the longest was somewhere between 6-8 hours, but it had gone into overtime. I don't think we were looking up rules most of the time, just that the other player was having a really hard time deciding what to do. I can't imagine a game that long being fun, but surprisingly we had a good time.

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
More people should enforce the 4 minute turn timer. It's part of the rules and part of the skill of the game to be able to play to 4 minutes. That will naturally end the game in just over 2 hours depending on how many TDs are scored (extra kick offs).

Re: Monthly Poll: Average Tabletop Match Time
Same as darkson and Sann here. Most games are probably around the 1.5hr mark, but when I travelled to Sann's league, I'd say the average was 3 hour games, due to tea breaks, chatting etc.
At tournaments, I'm generally complete well before the deadline, but there was one game against Garrick (Saturday, last game in a 2 day tournament) that lasted over 3 hours. It was tense, hard-fought and rather beer friendly

I keep pushing the idea of chess clocks (or chess clock smartphone apps) at my club. Gets the game done in a pretermined, finite time but still gives some flexibility to players who want to focus on a few keys turns without feeling too pressured.lunchmoney wrote:More people should enforce the 4 minute turn timer.
