New GW preorders next week

The elfs are finaly coming, along with team cards, new special play cards, some skill rings for 32mm bases, and not very exciting for the English speaking audience, but huge for everybody else: The inaugural Blood Bowl almanac! Coming with both Deathzones and all the white dwarf rules (no new ones). It will be translated into all of the languages the core set and DZ1 book have been translated to.

While that is really not exciting for those who own both books, those that held off to get DZ2 in their native language (like me) should be pretty happy about this! The book looks pretty nice, too.

There will be 3 pack of cards, elf, human and orcs. I hope for 3 diffrent sets of Special Play Cards, new ones in each team pack. But I think there will be like 3-4 from each team, and the same in every pack.

Any idea what to expect of the book?

Is it a replacement of the previous DZ's? (so ruleswise obsolete, but without hesitation worth it because tons and tons of fluf?)

Or is it a successor to the DZ's? (so containing new rules etc?)

It's a reprint of the DZs and WD stuff. From what I've heard (and read in the OP here) nothing new.

Anyone know of the price?

Interesting, was the original 'Blood on the Snow' not single sided, that list says this one is double sided and is the same price as other new pitches rather than the cheaper price the 1st iteration had.

I think it was double sided, essentially a winter version of the board from the box set so Human and Orc pitches.
It didn't come with dugouts, just a pitch which I think explained the lower price. The new version includes dugouts, so is priced in line with the other pitches. Cue howls of anguish from those who have the original pitch but no matching dugouts...

And you have various limited event cards and other stuff too. So instead of carrying a bunch of books, pdfs, app, white dwarf magazines and loose sheets of paper from different products, you can just bring this one book instead.

No, quite the contrary. This signifies a summary of all new rules from GW so far. There will be more new stuff to come next year.

Hopefully the almanac is released as a pdf/ebook as well. I would certainly buy that to have all the rules in one place. I have the previous books, so I'm not sure if I will actually buy the hardcover.

I took a look at that list, and that's a lot of stuff to throw out in one week. It seems like it would be more spread out. Some people will have a coronary trying to buy all of that if it is truly released during the same week.

No, we've lots more to come. It is a chance to correct the errata in DZ1 and to get DZ2 translated.


The Winter pitch was double sided, what's new this year is the dugouts that come with it. I told it was coming back gents, and I also told you we weren't going to release it in the middle of summer
