matt varnish
is anybody else having trouble with GW purity seal? Have they changed it? Normally it's pretty good but both DW and think that this latest "batch" is bad.
Anybody know of an alternative matt varnish?

Yes, that's our experience of it. Bought a brand new can, sprayed a couple of figs and don't want to use it anymore!Dave wrote:I have heard they changed the formula a bit, now giving a white/greyish sheen everywhere

Purity seal is a satin effect now right?
I did use purity seal from about two years ago in yellow-ish can. Worked ok and was pretty hard for game use. But horrified to find GW have changed can and formula. Laxon Hrull (golden demon winner too) stopped using varnish years ago as it only ever looks crap. I personally try to bung a thin varnish on but never found a great one in years.
The nasty white residue is often from water mixed with varnish so if you spray it could be humidity problem. I have saved a few old figs with a splash of another varnish (matt bottle) over the top - but fear most figs are ruined.

Avoid GW pot varnish, avoid most humbrol, avoid Windsor and Newton. Srry im hoping to find a can in an old independent store of the older formula.

yes Dell this varnish is .... special
problems I had with because I sprayed to much:
-yellow filter like smog
-my metalic trasforms like MNM
you have to spray fine lay, wait to be dryed and spray a second one (fine to).
last used I spray a first lay with gloss
to conclude I hate the new varnish
