As it shows clearly at the pict i posted before... if you see the GW mino 5.ed ( which i like, too
and Andy´s mino, i´m quite happy that i got a more dynamic posing mino now, too !! THX for this !
I´m cutting, greenstuffing and glueing another BBogre right now in quite some parts to get him " running", standing on one foot, getting a freeze of movement... damm, not easy!
And this is a "human" form !

Well first of all, I hope you didn't take too much offence to my post, just simply voicing my opinion that I didn't like the mini, but I did say it was only from a screenshot and I'm sure it IS a good mini, but it's not in my taste
Anyway onto yer post...

Imagine the mino charging forward like a juggernaut with the last poor victim still getting carried along with the force of the blow, with the victim having multiple heads so you could have an elf, orc, vampire, feral, human or anything else head.. I know realistically that wouldn't be possible from a manufacturing standpoint, (too much metal I think) but that's another idea I'd like

But then I'd be lying if I said I loved it... Just my opinion, it's not a crap mini, just not to my taste.
But as I've said, don't take it too critical, I just don't like the mini, as Grumbledook said, I don't actually like any of the fantasy football Minotaurs and not a single GW Mino (well I like the old 2nd edition two part BB Minotaur, but that's more out of fond memories than liking the sculpting).

Hmmm, I'm not a sculptor let alone a writer so it's not the best description but here goes. Either a Minotaur that looks to be side stepping one player and attempting to smack into a player behind him, a bit like a linebacker trying to get round an offensive guard to give the quarterback a turf burger. hmm, but if I could get a 'non realistic in mini producing terms' model then the best idea I could give would beHeresy_Bloke wrote: How would you (assuming for the moment that you could if you wanted to) sculpt a minotaur? Bear in mind you need to convey strength and speed, whilst making a fair representation of 'man meets bull'

When I said Acme Minotaur, it just struck me as a pose that looked not out of place on a roadrunner cartoon, right at the start when you get the Roadrunner freezeframe then the Wile E. Coyote freeze, followed by the Minotaur freeze (Frenzieus Cattleus). Onto the subject of 'human legs' on the mino, this is a thing that's bugged the heck out of me since year dot with a lot of fantasy, in myth a minotaur has the head of a bull and the body of a man, not the head and legs of a bull, just the head, rest of 'im is human... BUT this is fantasy so if you like your Minotaurs with bovine legs then why notHeresy_Bloke wrote:And you can't let it look like an ogre with a cow head. Big hands and feet are the traditional way of representing strength, though it has to be said that they're far more in "proportion" (i use the word contemptuously, it's a friggin minotaur, so there are no rules that apply) on this model than say on an ogre or giant. where the hands can be as big as the model's head.
Also, you need to make a minotaur that looks distinct from all the other , ahem, ACME minotaurs out there.
Thought about 3 legged stance, but you need to have human legs for that to look good.

I quite believe you, just not my cup of tea and as can be seen by the other responses a lot of people like the model so there's clearly nothing wrong with itHeresy_Bloke wrote:The minotaur looks Mucking awesome in real life, but then I would say that wouldn't I?

Well I only really buy fantasy football minis (no interested in ny other mini games) so that leaves me with the GW ones and yours and we know the answer to thatHeresy_Bloke wrote:Close, but not comedy, comic book. You try making a model with two sets of knees run. How many minotaurs in your collection are running? Or are they all standing still, two feet planted on the ground, doing not a lot?"it seems like it's sprinting comedy style"

Bit of a journey for me, but I'm sure I'll see the mini at some BB tourneys as the year progressesHeresy_Bloke wrote:Are you coming to partizan or salute this year,in the UK. you can see it there.
Heresy_Bloke wrote:And if you think I'm being snippy or unecessarily defensive, think how hard I worked on it for you to come on and dismiss it.

Probably just over £100's worth, not entirely sure.... Manbane was going to form the base for a fantasy football conversion, but just never got round to it, so he's sitting in my cupboard next to a half painted bar room brawl ogre I semi converted to be swinging an advertising board instead of a table (pitch invasion!).Heresy_Bloke wrote:Course, this is where he tells me he's got loads of heresy stuff and i look a proper Bat.

Good man for not flipping out on me too!
The suggestions are great but you do run into the big problem again, which is not the metal (anything can be made regardless of szie or number of parts - but it makes the model more expensive) it's the muscles. Once you monkey around with the anatomy, it's a whole new ball game!
Basically, those dog legs spoil everything when it comes to doing 'human' posing. Side-stepping is easy for us regular bipeds, but for a cloven hooved beastie, it's very difficult to make the legs look natural and keep the body balanced, particularly if the upper body is big. There's only so much muscle you can add to legs. Hooves don't bend like feet/toes do. Ankles don't work the same way. Etc.
The answer is to make the minotaur with human legs of course, but then you get into proportions. if you waqnt the minoatur head to be inporportion to the human body, itneeds to be either very very small, or the body needs to be very very big. I personally don't like the idea of minotaurs that are 12 feet tall. (i know manbane is, but that was one of my first sculpts). They also bring a new problem - the pic you gave would be great for two equal sized opponents, but when one of them is 12 feet tall, the other guy comes up to his belt and suddenly you have to , lo and behold, make the minotaur bend right over so he can charge them properly, like a bull, with head lowered. (incidentally, that guy's got his finger somewhere pretty personal, hasn't he?
) See what I'm saying? I did think about altering the concept of minotaurs totally and doing the so-called 'manotaur', which is more in keeping with your idea - about 8 to 9 feet tall, with human body and only remotely cowlike face plus horns. I may still do them if I get time, since i want to use them as a character race for the rpg/background i'm still working on.
Final problem with anything with humongous arms and legs is flexibility. The kind of physiques normally associated with ogres and minos means that often in reallife they wouldn't even be able to bend their arms or cross their legs! So you have to take that into account too.
So in summary, i wish it were that easy, but it's not!

Damn right.
Apart, that is, from all the actual work, like packing, casting and doing paperwork and emails and stuff. If only it was all sculpting and thinking up ways to make goatmen run around in freeze frames...

I just recieved a big package of Heresy minis the other day, and WOW!
I must say that I'm very pleased! The speed with which my order was handled and shipped was just amazing, and on top of that the minis are just perfect!
Didn't get the new mino though although I think it's cool ... I went for the Manbane fig. instead.
But the Tunnel Dweller is absolutely awesome when you see it in person. Not that the pic's don't do it justice, but holding it is just different (you know what I mean)
The first thing that popped into my head was: "He's the perfect demonprince for my Death Guard army", "I just gotta have that mini"!
And the Boris Ref. is absolutely hilarious ... can't wait to get that one painted up
Well, I'm just ranting now ... better go do something about it instead
