2p Coins - no expense spent!
Quite pleased with this - I've stuck 2p coins on to the bottom of my slann team's bases.
Happy effects:
- models are heavier so they don't fall over
- skill rings go on over the top of the model but don't fall off the bottom
- shiny bronze colour fits well with the slanny thing
Pics later, probably.

Just make sure you don't pay for some pick n' mix with your wrestling lineman...

Interesting...
It would be nice to see those pics (specially curious to see how the work with the base rings).

Here are the troops:

Just used them for a weekend's gaming, and they worked really well (the base rings, and the slann in general!).

Re: 2p Coins - no expense spent!
You have the coins glued, right? (I seem to see a bit of glue peeking).
The idea of giving some extra weight to the base is appealing, but I'm still not sure about the extra height it gives them and having them seen under.
Might give it a try with a single model and possibly paint it the colour of the base, to see how it goes.
Thanks for sharing!
Lack of round bases or do you use them for a different game?

Yeah the glue can't be seen much without a flash! Should probably have taken a bit more care with it, tbh.
And yep, my woodies are the Impact Timberlines. Elfball-tastic!

You could pile six coins under a catcher to show it leapingAxtklinge wrote: I'm still not sure about the extra height it gives them and having them seen under.

If you are feeling rich then a 20p fits almost perfectly inside a standard GW non-slotta base. You just need to sand the corners ever so slightly.
It has a lot more weight without the extra height or the bronze lip round the bottom, of course it won’t work if the models have tabs and drilling through a 20p is hard work. Not to mention it costing you an extra £3.20 for a team of 16!

I used to use pennies, if that helps anyone. Usually only for plastic minis in dynamic poses like leaning forward or catching as it might be a bit too light-weight to help with metal minis.

Re: 2p Coins - no expense spent!
I usually glue small lead weights (from fishing weights) under the bases, when the minis are more dynamic or off-centred, but coins might be an interesting substitute.

I Use washers. the washers I use come out like 5 cents each I think. they fit 20mm bases exactly underneath and raise the model, but lately I have been using 30mm display bases and the washer fits hidden underneath quite neatly, but most of the tab has to be removed.

Re: 2p Coins - no expense spent!
If you use the 40k style closed/slotless bases you can glue a penny underneath to add weight/fill the base, without adding height.
