where did you get the miniatures from?
I looked on the crash Tackle site and couldn't see them there.

Does the game play relates to BB (rules wise), in any way?

It's been many years since I played CT (and I'm very new to BB). They don't really relate, as such, but there are some similar mechanics...

- Players have varying skills depending on position (Movement and Ball Skill).
- Dice are rolled to determine the success of actions such as gathering the ball, passing, kicking etc.
- Defending players exert tackle zones, although as I recall tackles only take place on the attackers turn. So, if I'm defending, I can move my players into position to make a tackle but it won't be made until the attackers turn.
- On your turn you may move all players up to their movement allowance.
- When the ball carrier enters an opposing players tackle zone they are immediately tackled (unless they can play a card that prevents this - see below) and both the attacking and defending players are grounded.

Each turn a player draws a Pressure Play card which they can play at any applicable time, for example, "Hand Off" allows the ball carrier to stay on his feet during a tackle (a rugby "Hand Off" describes shoving an open palm in your opponents face to prevent them making a tackle, rather than the BB equivalent of handing the ball to someone

), "Burst of Speed"? (can't remember what it's called) allows a player to move an extra three hexes on their turn... and so on.

CT, as you might expect, tries to follow the laws of Rugby Union as closely as possible and I think it does a great job - it "feels" like rugby!

When I played there was no player experience or team building side to the game but the designers were considering it and, going on the website, it looks like this might be in place now.

Hope that gives you a little flavour of it. I hope I haven't given any duff information... it's been a long time!

You have to decide how many teams you want and then email her directly. She'll give you a quote and when you tell her your order, that's when she casts them. They aren't readily available. Between my initial contact, her confirmation of my request (I wanted 6 teams), her updates on casting, shipping and receipt directly from her in the UK to me in the middle of the U.S., it was probably 2 weeks.

I highly recommend using Sam.

As far as the miniatures themselves, they are larger than the 28mm human models. I'd say they are tall like a Big Guy. You could use them as alternative Humans, but I think it wouldn't really look right in BB. Maybe if there was a House Ruled Rugby Style Star Player.

As far as the game, I think the description above is very good, although there have been rule changes and additions. It's really nothing like BB. One thing that is really cool about the game is that it is played in real time. In other words, the game is timed under the Rules of Rugby Union (no turn marker, etc.) This would be an interesting variant for BB if you applied the 4 minute rule and eliminated turn marker.

Has helped me to learn the game of Rugby though (which was my goal), which is less followed over here than other sports, like track and field.

Sounds very interesting indeed.
And with painted 3D minis on it, it's a complete different story!
(I've already checked their official site and dwld some rules, will probably check them over the weekend).

I dont have that much knowledge about rugby (rules wise), but really enjoy watching "big" games (Like World Cup, 4 Nations and alike). During the last WC even ended up changing my daily schedule to wake up early a couple of hours to see the games.

Great that you enjoy watching it. It's a fantastic sport and one I'm very passionate about but it's not very accessible to the casual viewer. There are so many little offences that can cause the ref to blow up.

I played for many years and still don't know all the correct rulings... I just kept on doing what I was doing until the ref told me off
