Re: Opinions Sought
You though they were even larger? I certainly though they were smaller the elf looks ridiculous in comparison.

Think JTY was meaning the mini is alot skinnier than expected. Makes my mind up as he looks way to skinny to be used as a troll.

Skinnier than I thought yes, but also not quote so tall. The one pictured stands the tallest of the three, and isn't too tall to work with.
Well, not rushing out to do it now, but I really can see some potential in the idea.

Portcullis games have got the big models assembled and kicking around if you needed to eyeball them, but the (small) ghouls are pretty compact in relation to most st3 players (I've had to bulk the base up to keep them consistent to the LOTR models that make up the rest of my necro team - and they come up a little smaller than 'normal' GW models - so its not just that the big vamps are big, but also the small vamps are small... and that will throw the scale out even further.

maybe some ork boyz legs or similar will help adjust the height differential?
however, it allows you the chance to make a load of prone/stunned vampire markers - and the options for staked vamps / coffins / swarms of bats or even models bursting into flames should be a worthwhile challenge to a man of your modelling skills
and on that basis, I think you should do it ('cos you'll be bored of the team in 3 months and then I can steal your turn markers and other goodies)....

Well, Steve is right, the big vamps are big and the small ghouls are small.
But I've bought them now so it's too late
They will fit on a 30mm base, which keeps them nicely inside one square, and the visual theme is very solid and something I've kinda wanted to do something with since the first WFB Strigoi appeared way back when.
And I certainly can have some fun with making markers and sideline staff, and I'm very inspired to make a big diorama type display base.
Stuff it. I've got a few teams lined up for quick paint jobs to a gaming standard similar to my Dwarfs, and this team will sit beside my Nurgle team as one to take a bit of time over.
Started assembling this evening, and have a few conversion ideas gently simmering, but I don't want them to look too fantasy football, I kinda plan for them to look like a scarey horde of beasts creeping out of tombs and charnel houses to do the bidding of a fanatical football loving necromancer.

I don't see a problem with really big vampires really. Sure, you can wonder why they're not ST 5 when they're that big, but to me, having a team that looks really cool beats out "does it make sense?" considerations like that.

I did this with the older metal Strigoi Vampire models and Ghouls as Thralls.
