Gobbo conversions from Reaper Bones

Post by Wirelizard »

Reaper had a Halloween promotion on a few weeks ago, so I took advantage of that to order up a whole bunch of the plastic Bones figures, mostly goblins from their Pathfinder-licenced line, some trolls, and a few other bits and pieces, most of which will eventually appear as sideline figures on the BB pitch.

Conversions so far are mostly a matter of snipping weapons off, cleaning up fists, carving bases much smaller, and occasionally cutting and reposing an arm here and there. The Bones plastic is easy to cut with a scalpel and glues strongly with superglue; the only downside so far is you can't really file it.

Over on the far left, my Impact Miniatures Sarcos crocodile (Lizardman) team, who hang around my painting bench and periodically get a bit of extra paint to make them even awesomer than they already are. There's a couple of new Baby Crocs (Skinks) for them that need to get primed next time I get the spraycans out.

Over on the far right, ten in-progress gobbo line-gobs, all conversions from Reaper Bones gobbos.

Centre, two trolls and a minotaur, all Reaper Bones again. The mino isn't currently slated to join any particular team, I just bought him because it's an awesome figure and was easy to convert for BB - two weapon snips, clean up his fists, done, pretty much.

The orange troll is getting a few greenstuff pads and straps added to make him more BB-flavoured, but arrived from Reaper with empty hands so the only conversion was cutting down the base.

The big unpainted troll is a Reaper Marsh Troll, and he's had the most conversion so far. I cut the club away from both hands and cut the left arm at the bicep and turned it so it hangs down. The right shoulder got extensive surgery to re-sit the arm, the tab on the back of the right arm got cut off, and the corresponding tab across the chest and stomach need to be filled. Both shoulders have gotten football armour/pads added to hide the chopping and carving of my conversions, and various straps and such to make it look like the pads would actually stay in place still need to be added.

Still to be done are all the positionals that make gobbos so fun to play! Bombers, chainsaws, pogos and fanatics, oh my!

The fanatic is going to get part of the Marsh Troll's removed club, possibly decorated with some of the sword blades removed from the line-gobs. Bomber will be a fairly simple conversion; chainsaw and pogo will need a bit of thinking on.

I have a bunch of extra gobbo figures though so if I screw one up I'm not too concerned.

These guys have been a lot of fun to work on so far, I'm looking forward to showing off more work on them soon.
