Hi, first of all, thanks for reply (I posted hoping you would).

I didn't had any broken figs (played with them just once though), and I think I wouldn't as I'm quite careful with my toys :)
I sayd it is brittle based on my assembling experience, as removing excess material (while I understand it's way thinner than the thinnest of the ankles) and tampering with it.
I'm also quite surprised to know they're cast by Trollforged, as I have purchased some pieces from the guy in the past. Among these there was an Alien Larva Brain in trollcast, and it looks like a totally different material: way more elastic and bendy.

Anyway, good to know the material is solid and you didn't experienced any issues. You somewhat relieved me :)

Ed has been working with the formula. So it might have changed slightly from your figure. The gating is brittle on purpose but the material for the figure itself is very solid.

Have to admit have had no complaints over here the quality of the sculpt is about as best as I have seen in plastic and more defined than the metal. Althoough I am a metal fan myself because I like the heavier miniatures, Impact have done a great job with these and they are very durable unlike some plastics that just snap under any pressure.

I've had one instance of a broken leg, the resin/plastic was really shiny in the area of the break so not sure if it was just a random imperfection but regardless it took less than a minute to pin and fix.

back on next releases, I really like apes models, but undecided the team for I will use them as stand ins. Gorillataur seems to suggest Chaos Dwarves (gorillas as dwarves, others as hobgoblins), but I really love Greebo ones and plan to get them sooner or later. Orcs could be another choice, but I already own a team of them. What about Slann? Gorillas as blitzers, gibbons as catchers, chimps as linemen and gorillataur as kroxigor (looking at the pic it seems it has a tail, too). I find this the most appropriate choice, as jump and very long legs could apply to monkeys, too.

so, here's a question: how they will be commercialized? I suppose there will be no individual models (left alone big guys), as per other restic teams...

Actually if you look at the two we produced so far there are some individual models and smaller packs of figs that we made available.

The plan for the Apes currently is 3 team packages (each one having 18 figures with a $35 USD price)
1) 3 Armoured Gorilla Blocker, 3 Armoured Gorilla Blitzer, 3 Chimpanzee Midfielders, 3 Chimpanzee Runner, 2 Gibbon, 1 Orangutan, 1 Silverback and 2 Gorilla Centaur
2) 4 Armoured Gorilla Blocker, 4 Armoured Gorilla Blitzer, 3 Chimpanzee Midfielders, 2 Chimpanzee Runner, 2 Gibbon, 2 Orangutan, 1 Silverback
3) 2 Armoured Gorilla Blocker, 2 Armoured Gorilla Blitzer, 7 Chimpanzee Midfielders, 2 Chimpanzee Runner, 2 Gibbon, 2 Orangutan, 1 Silverback

The Gorilla Centaur will be sold seperately as well.

If you really wanted a Slann style roster ... the #3 pack would work for that.

Thank you for reply.

what about #1 instead? 4 gorilla/blitzers, 6 total chimps/linemen, 2 gibbons/catchers (can field 4 but I don't think I'll ever go past 2, maybe 3), 1 orangutan to use as third catcher or skilled lineman, 1 gorillataur/kroxigor.
( plus I'll have 2 gorillas, 1 gorillataur, 2 silverback as spares. )

That could work as well.

I tried to design the 3 different packages to have a lot of flexibility for their uses.

Gabbi - do feel free to check out the Apes of Wrath roster in my signature for another use for these models. We tried it out in our TT league last year and it was a lot of fun - a few other leagues have subsequently picked it up too.

Cheers

What is the 'extra hands' skill? What is it supposed to represent?

i have to say, i'm not really interested in the apes. i would have rather them to have been more "planet of the apes. the old planst of the apes. but after looking at the roster, i may get the team.

Great John - glad you like it!

Don - Extra Hands = Extra Arms. I've actually listed the skill as Extra Arms in the latest obblm version (thanks Nicholas for making it function and rolling the roster out to users) for clarity.

What inspired this characteristic is the (now defunct and discredited) classification of the great apes as distinct from humans in that they possess four "hands" - the skill in practice reflects the prehensile nature of their feet. First proposed in the 1770s, it stuck around until Darwin's Descent of Man finally took it to pieces as a theory in 1871 following some pretty leftfield work by Huxley in the 1860s.

So, Quadrumana and Bimana form an obsolete division of the primates: the Quadrumana are primates with four hands (two attached to the arms and two attached to the legs), and the Bimana being those with two hands and two feet (i.e. humans). The attempted division of "Quadrumana" from "Bimana" form a stage in the long campaign to find a secure way of distinguishing Homo sapiens from the rest of the great apes, a distinction that was culturally essential at the time.

Quadrumana is Latin for "four-handed ones", which is a term used for apes since they do not have feet attached to their legs as humans do, but instead have hands, as both pairs of hands look almost alike (with the exception of the orangutan, whose hands look exactly the same) and operate exactly like hands.

Any ideas after the Apes, Gnomes and Necros where the Pharaohs team might end up in your busy schedule? I don't know how popular they are so have no clue if you have them top 5, or bottom 5 for example.
