A quick pic of my snow troll for this months golden football big guy bonanza!
http://twitpic.com/7nir1e
I am following several guides in the new GW 'eavy metal master class book. For those who have this book the skin guide is on page 61, the mammoth skin on page 45, the claws on page 87 and the fur on page 33. Its tue first time I have really used a guide extensively and I also rewatched the P3 basics dvd. The heavy metal guide is good but I have a feeling you would get a lot more content for a similair price from different company's like CMON and of course privateer press put army painting guides in the back of their army bools the loveable chaps.
I hope its to you likeing so far, can everyone without a twitter account see twitpics ok? Its much easier for me that mobilw photobucket.

Keep up the good work mate :D I'm hoping to make some good headway on my Warmachine so that I can pull something together for December. If not definately January when I am actually painting blood bowl models.

I've said it in the November thread and will say it again here. You are making some fantastic progress particularly over the last 6-9 months every model you paint shows signs of improvements. I'm really glad you kept with the painting and didn't jack it in. Seeing you constantly paint is definately a bit of motivation for me to keep pulling my finger out and making progress :D

Re: Inkpwn painting slob, planning for the NAF champs 2012 (

Post by inkpwn »

I have been thinking about what I will take to the NAFC, unfortunately because theres a, understandable , no non GW miniatures policy this year I had choose if i take the heavy conversion route or buy a GW team. My first idea after looking through a GW catalogue was to convert a undead team. After converting the first mummy I found put that the only ghouls I wanted were OOP so I decided to just give in and purchase the GW human team. I think we can all agree its the best of the GW teams even if those punching daggers are a touch over the top.
I'm going to be getting the team in the coming weeks, I will remove the punching daggers and I'm going to attempt to sculpt a large feather onto the foreheads of the blitzers to help make them stand out against the linemen.
Also, while I like the GW WFB ogres they are not the most conversion friendly and the blood bowl ones are very bulky. I'm going to be picking up this ogre:

From heresy miniatures and hope to sneak it in under the disguise of conversion. Here's a terrible sketch of the conversion I'm going to attempt=

I'm going to add a old style leather football helmet, knee pads and a GW ogre shoulder pad.

I'm still unsure of what colour scheme to go with, I'm thinking of blue armour with with blue and white stripy trousers but I'm very tempted by a scheme with yellow or green, I dunno just drawn to them.
Anyone know of a guide on how to paint stubble?

Stubble= flesh tones plus a touch of blue paint. I know it sounds wrong but it works.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.

Prepare to crank your head to the right or spin your screen, its more images that need rotating! Brought to you by photobucket refusing to upload my cropped and rotated ones.

Decided to skip the humans for three reasons.
1. No non GW bitz policy at the NAFC
2. Local retailer was miffed that I wasn't supporting her.
3. I lack the ability to make and hold to a decision for longer than 15 choclate coins.

Here are some WIP progress orc pics, converted GW nobs and a boy along with a spanish coach mini (with added beard) which isn't going to be on show at the champs, he's just cool.

Big question now, pretending that you know nothing about GW minis, do you think those guys look weapon snipped?
Oh, that ogre is still coming in the post so I will be going through with the his conversion.

The boys are from the Black Reach set I think and are the same as the ones i used. Its the pose which makes it really obvious, only one of their arms can be changed position.

For me the Bull Centaur is the pick of the bunch - the whole figure has really come together very nicely indeed! Great use of the FW parts, but I'm guessing not a cheap team to make?

The hobs could do with a few more BB additions; a shoulder pad or two and some ripped shorts would be just the ticket
