Re: Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
I love the bigger 30 or 32mm heroic miniatures, but then between Thunderbowl and Rat City we've managed to convert most of the Pacific Northwest into playing on 40mm boards (via Tournaments and League Play). No small feat for a community of around 100 players.

Not talking about the "Helmet-less Griff" though, the "Smal Boris" one !Steam Ball wrote:Because he is that (also MA7 AG4 AV8).SBG wrote:+1 to that. I just ordered a Willy Human Blitzer (from Impact!) and it looks like he's ST4 around the other guys.
TV will skyrocket with 4 players, each for 320K gold coins... if the rules would allow for more than 2 per team (and repeating), of course. Now, if my opponents let me play him at ST4, I'll buy three more!

Because it requires a set of markers corresponding to the models? Is not as intuitive, looks I think worse and if you have several models (say ogres) all requiring tokens for stunned and prone it gets confusing.Dr. Von Richten wrote:Why don't you just use 'prone/stunned' markers? I used prone Greebo buggers as markers. Head facing me was prone, facing you is stunned. Painted em to look like the ogres. Had 3 and only wasn't enough once in ten games.Chris wrote:Because it requires a set of markers corresponding to the models? I prefer 28mm. Certain models are just too big for practical use and for appearance on the board. If you've got some hulking monstrosity representing a regular Orc lineman at ST3 and it can still get one diced by a wood elf it's too big.

I converted up a couple of teams from fantasy models with the main priority being looking good rather than practicalities of placing them prone during a game.
So before a tournament I had to quickly make some prone and stunned markers for multiple players. It was less of an issue when they were different positions as I could use the old colour coding, but was still a bit of an annoyance having to continually swap them over.
On the 1 hand it helps protect the model and avoids having to ruin the paint job with a thick coat of varnish, but it does look a lot less impressive on the pitch.

Since I chose my teams based on how they look, I would have to say I overall prefer 30mm (which gives you more opportunity to make it look better), and I think that the Spanish studios did have a lot to do with that.
I LOVE Greebo's Volmarian dwarves, and I think they are closer to 30mm than 28mm.
And since they still fit well on a 25mm base, and since 30mm is still an option on the pitch, I would go 30mm.

Re: Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
Hello,
In real life sportsmen have not the same size. So, mixing 28mm and 30mm miniatures are not a problem when it feats right.
But some miniatures have a bullshit scale...
They are over 32mm (I will not speak about Willy Miniatures zombis who are over 35mm...
)
I prefer 28mm/30mm but not over, because placing prone on the pitch is very important. (I don't like markers, they are not intuitive.)

Re: Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
I've got a ridiculus mixture of minis from pretty much every manufacturer of BB minis.
My favourites remain the 2nd Ed GW minis.
So whatever matches them is great. Probably true 28mm rather than the heroic....I bought some plastic Goblins to add to my 2nd ed Skaven to produce an Underworld team (several years ago) and the Goblins are as big as the rats.
TBH as long as it's consistant within a team I'm generally OK though. I do think some make their minis a bit too big (Willy - amazing sculpts but HUGE). I have a whole load of Barbarian minis I want to use as a team, but they all look ST 4. Minis I've bough to add to the team have often been too small. (They're probably going to end up as Pact.)

Re: Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
within a reasonable scale i don't care about 28 or 30 mm
not every sport player is the same tall as every other in their teams
those 2 mm are about what? about 12 cms? 4 inches ?
that diference is common found in real football gamers

Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
I think the scale creep is annoying. My clear preference is the scale of the 2nd minis, which I think fits the board perfectly.
I really love many of the independent manufacturers miniatures but I think they are getting way to big. For instance, the heroic blitzer from Willy is as big as a 2nd ed troll, which I find misleading.
Oh well, I will probably just paint him up as a display model as it is a great model

Re: Community Feedback on 28mm vs. 30mm scale
28 mm please. I have a dwarf zombie as big as a lineman... no, thanks.
I find it a lot easier to place them (IF they go down, ehm, I mean, WHEN..
) on the board also.
I dont want to have a cluttered up field, so 28mm it is for me.
