:) I don't count on winning... or 2nd place... or 3rd ..
well I can't get less votes then last comp  so there's nothing to lose. :)
I have my mini finisched, only basing. :-?
after I found "grass" I'm now experimenting with it. (Damn that just doesn't looks right is it?? ) :P

I'll try to make a pict of first basing with the grass and ask some more little tips then I'll startbasing this mini. he came out quite nice I think, no conversion just a normal mini.

I only have one question:
is the voting system again the same??

couldn't we do something with 4 point for the first choice, 2 for the 2nd choice and 1 for 3rd choice?? (Or any other point system a bit similar)

because I was feeling a bit bad when I got no votes at all when I had quite somework in my last entry, and afterwards I heard that some people actualy liked my entry so: this will give you maybe some points.. or again no, but a bit more chance.
and you not only get "the winner"

if there is one very good entry, beter as everyone elses entry, it will get all votes. then you'll know after 1 second which one is best. and with an other sstem you also know who is "best of the rest"

well let me know what you think of it.
:-?

I'm inclined to agree...

last time the decision was not easy and I expect this time to be much more difficult given the number of guys participating...

maybe a 3/2/1 points system is flexible enough without turning it into the Eurovision song contest?

well the voting system will be changed from last time. unfortunately i'm running into problems with that though.

yeah there will be a points system 6 points for first, 3 points for second and 1 point for third. this should give a good range i think (so that getting a few bronzes is worth the same as 1 silver etc.) but i would have it that if the points are equal then it would go on number of golds won, number of silvers won and then number of bronze won. so there is more achievment in getting a gold than getting 2 silvers. does this make sense to everyone? if not then let me know.

trouble is i'm still trying (and failing miserably) to sort out a voting system on the website. what i may have to do is sort out an email to pop up so you can make your selection. if anyone knows of an easier / better way then please let me know. i have thought about forms but i think i need to make up a database for the records to be stored won't i. now there's my downfall :(

so anyway 6 points first choice (gold star), 3 points second choice (silver star) and 1 point for third choice (bronze star) if there's a tie break then it'll be decided on stars order (the more gold stars you get the higher you'll be)

i think this is a fairer system, especially compared to last time. oh well live and learn

this voting system seems good... allthough I'm very bad at seeing if it is balanced and tings like that so it could be unbalanced or sotheng.

I like te idea of stars though.

maybe you could make a special topic where you must only vote and not write why. that every one just votes and gives stars. then you only have to count the stars and such ? a bit of work with counting though

I agree with the 1st-2nd-3rd place style of voting.

Why dont you ask a mail/pm from all the people who entered, they post their name/nickname, and then post their favorites ?
It makes sure no one votes for themselves...

Or just ask their nickname, and their favorites. It makes sure only the people on this board voted, and you can post a startdate - closing date for all "votecasting".

say: deadline for minis is 25-3, voting starts on 1-4 (gives you time to post all the piccies), and ends at 14-4. A few days thereafter you can post all the votes, or only the numbers 1-2-3.

Idea ? that's how "we" do that on the Bolter&Chainsword...

I agree, too, with this 1th, 2th and 3th ranking thing. More fun for the " rest of the bests" and not only the "only best one".

jam

that's probably what going to happen anyway. it's what happened last time. baasically the closing date for entries is 25/3/05 and then mini's will more than likely be up over the next few days (most likely monday ish) with the voting going on for about a week or so.

i like the way that anyone can vote regardless of whether they entered or not. it keeps it interesting for everyone then and doesn't (hopefully) make it too elitist.

so does anyone know how to create a voting section on a website or should i just leave it to an email in comp?

Andy - could you stick up a list of whose entries you've reciever so far? just out of curiosity.
I'd say easiest would be for everyone to simlpy stick a vote in a special voing thread. Means you don't get swamped with PMs or emails and its easy to check later.
