some nice entries there, good to see Dave still plugging away with his Feyenoord based Norse.. how many times did I dread playing those cockroaches.. lucky Brage missed the deadline for the rest of you though - can we test him for steroids??

I vote for Gus, though from the front it seems the models left arm has been allowed to droop while the glue was drying.. maybe two shoulder pads is the way to go with the marauders? those minis always had very obvious joins IMHO.. I actually green-stuffed the gaps on mine..

Well...seeing as I can't vote for Gus_the_hut's daughter I decided that I would give Robsoma a nod because that beastman looks dipped...and that makes me very happy to see in a painting competition. That's not sarcasm either. I really do think it turned out quite nice.

Doubleskulls has more than doubled the poll capacity so I have included gus the huts daughters and brage97s entrys.
You can revote if you so wish, best of luck to all twelve of you!
Edit: Whoop, it appears that the polls reset. Sorry for this inconvenience, please vote again.

Oh yes, I think I have. My 3.5 year old daughter has been onto Hello Kitty and princesses the last 4 years :)
I think it's normal in societies like that...

Come on guys, I know this is going to sound like me just throwing all my toys out of the pram but I really feel like your disrespecting the hard work of the other contestants when you run with a silly gag like this.
While its great to see the efforts of a kid in blood bowl I really feel like we should be taking this a tad more seriously.
We have some stunning entrys this month, I myself voted for lard because of his fun style, unconventional basing and great choice of mini, and I really don't want a silly thing like this to set the tone for the golden football.
I know we have a habit of making a joke about everything, norse goes on about sex and lord knows heff would have made this thread three pages longer if someone entered a longbeard, heck some of you may honestly believe she does deserve to win but we all know she doesn't give a flying fig. I worked hard on four minis this month and stripped them all about a week before the poll went up because I didn't belive them to be up to scratch, I thought this contest was more respected than this and to have a chance against people like pitch invader and brage97 I would have had to do better, work harder, but if this is how we are going to act I really feel that effort was a waste of time.
I'm sorry but that's just how I feel.
Oh and yes, I do know that this will cause a large amount of people to vote for gus the huts daughter to spite me.

I will not be offended if you remove my daughter’s model from consideration, it was never meant to be a serious entry but I thought it was something quite funny and cool to show everyone. After all we all started somewhere :)

That having been said I was not aware that this “competition” (with its lack of any kind of tangible reward) was supposed to be thought of as anything more than a bit of fun.
It was the fun informal aspect of this that appealed to me, I would not consider myself by any stretch to be of a pro level, and realistically would not have entered at all if I thought it was something seriously competitive.

I am just not good enough a painter. 8) :(

But I thought it was a good way of showing off what I can do and also giving me an excuse to paint some of the massive back log of models that I have.

Bottom line is weather Bethany (my daughter’s name) wins or not dose not mater. But I propose that if she dose then the runner up have the choice of either letting her pick the next category (which she is capable of doing) or picking it themselves.
dose this sound fair to everyone?

I will not be offended either way :D

Cool, cool. But honestly I do feel the air of competition even without much of a reward, there's a chance to better myself here and I wanted to take the challenge but this has really been a fly in my soup. I will allow Bethany to pick the next challenge if she does win. But I will still feel a tad let down that the feeling of challenge has really dropped for me, which was the fun of it all. The last time edited the poll it reset and resetting it now is far from my mind. This painting event may be far from heavyweight but there's no reason that the thrill of challenge couldn't have been found in this division. That's all.

Uh oh.

[high horse time]

Arthur - I truly empathize with why you're frustrated and I don't think you should feel ashamed or apologize for how you feel. However, you should know better then to write it in the forum. You even said yourself that more folks will probably vote for her now to spite you. And they probably should.

This is a fantastic contest you've created, but I personally feel it should be kept lighter and votes should not be expressly given to the best painted mini if the voter doesn't want to award the vote for that reason alone. A perfect example: I voted for you in the very first competition. Don't take this the wrong way but I didn't vote for you because I thought that you had the best painted mini that month. If I had voted that way I would have given it to PI or SinDex. However, I have been watching your painting abilities vastly improve over the last year, you produced a nice looking mini, and I felt that you definitely deserved some credit for that.

I hope I don't sound to "lectury" as that is not my intent. I just hope we don't turn it into a Golden Demon affair. Otherwise I might as well quit painting now.

I'd like to echo some of Burgun's thoughts and address some of your concerns, inkpwn.

I have viewed these competitions as very community oriented, where winning was a fantastic goal but possibly secondary to the spirit of everyone making time to paint that one mini they hadn't made time for, and to share it with everyone. Some may vote strictly for the best paint job, and that's wonderful. Others, such as Burgun, may put weight elsewhere (such as progression of skills). It was in a similar spirit that I found myself voting for Gus_the_hut's daughter; not as a mockery to those who did their best to paint a model (myself included, even if you won't add me to the pole, inkpwn! I've tried to upload the picture again, even if I can't receive any votes for my late, incomplete, model!), but in support of a community member who, while enjoying the hobby we all share, got his little 'un involved too, which is neat (not to mention the serious "awwww" factor).

If others enter their children's works, I seriously doubt they will get the support that has occurred in this instance (being the first). If you still have such a negative take on her winning, simply proclaim her runner-up as the "official" winner and be done with it. If you didn't want her to "take" votes from others who you view as more deserving, then she shouldn't have been added as a joke option in the first place. If it's an option, people have the right to vote for it, whatever their reason.

I think the contest is respected, but also approached by some with a light-hearted "Oh what the hell, I'll show off my garbage mini because it's fun!"

Take it in stride Inkpwn, and I will try to finish my submission next time :D

*looks through PM's* Crud, sorry lunchables, completly forgot about your entry. I would have added it to the poll if I had remembered.
Does anyone want control of this? Clearly I'm not competent.

Arthur,

I think making one (minor I hope) mistake does not make you incompetent in my eyes, actually, your enthousiasm for this project makes me enter mini's. Basically; you've made it happen!

I can understand your dissapointment on the current vote, I can also see the point raised by some of the other posters on the other hand. We all see this as a fun event, a good reason to keep on picking up the brushes, and sometimes that means you won't vote for the best mini out there but for the one that you think has earned your vote for one reason or another.

Please keep on running this...
