Hi all, the painting is temporarily on hold as I have misplaced my main brush (I have a detail and a basecoating brush, but the one I use to do most of my painting is nowhere to be found. I'll aim to buy a replacement by the end of the week).
Wights
But no painting means opportunity to finish the converting of the team. First up are a pair of wights:
I struggled working out what to do for the wights - in the end I decided to evoke the Heresy wight I originally bought to use in this team, but using GW figures. The chap on the left is my favourite - Tuern Redvenom mated with a 1985 Citadel wight. The other guy I'm less satisfied with, but I'm hoping it will come together once he's painted and loses the whacky colour scheme! He's built from a second 1985 wight with an old wood elf champion torso. I can't work out whether he's beckoning or calling out a play
Flesh Golem
Last, but no means least is my flesh golem. I spent ages trying to work out what to make this guy out of - I looked at Mordeheim figures, old Citadel, current GW...basically anything I could think of which might work. Norse actually sowed the seeds for this one with his suggestion a few weeks ago:
The end result is a hybrid of a Bob Olley Ogre, head of Frank N Stein and the legs from a Necromunda Scaly. I sculpted the fella a new shirt and hopefully the result is a decent flesh golem who is bigger than his team-mates, yet smaller than the current big guys. I wouldn't say it's my favourite conversion on the team, but he looks pretty cool when he's stood next to his buddies. Next to the pic of the actual model is a photo concept I made before I started the conversion. I often do this to help me visualise what the end result will be. In this case I got the scales slightly out and made the ogre torso a fraction smaller, and Frank's head a fraction bigger (which actually makes the concept look better than the real thing I think!). I also considered not using the loincloth, but in the end decided to leave it.
Next up I really do hope to have some more of these painted!
