Leaving aside that legal bit :) 3d proint it!

Right then - a bit of an update on these guys - I've painted up a first zombie in the test colour scheme:

Image

Pic doesn't show it too well, but he's got lovely pale purple-tinged flesh (the wights will be more blueish, the ghouls a bit more dirty pinkish). I've deliberately kept the scheme very simple with green pads/shirt and black shorts with a splash of yellow so it can be replicated across a range of very different models. The big question though - is it just a touch boring?

Changing his shirt to black might actually "liven" it up a bit.
Otherwise looks good and can't wait to see some of the conversions under the brush!

"Boring" is a bit too strong, there's quite a lot of green on there which I think overwhelms the rest and you lose the distinction between different bits of kit. A stripe or edging for the shoulder pads would bring them out and I'd suggest changing the helmet colour to the yellow you have on the belt. These would still carry across to a range of figures easily enough.

Just my $0.02 obviously :)

Thanks for the feedback on the strip. I had a quick play with paint for some options:

Overall, I'm not hugely keen on the yellow helmet (too Halfling for my taste!). The tan cloth has potential (although would probably need a different colour belt), but I'm leaning towards the black shirt.

If only my brush skills would cope with that on every model, but I don't think I'm up to it ;)

Not too long, some of the converted zombies are next in the queue :)

And a micro teasing update:

Image

My planned display board using the Nazgob Picture Frame Display Technique (TM). The eagle-eyed among you may spy my first wight and the 2nd werewolf conversions. Still some finishing needed on them before I show them though. Don't worry about the Elf - he's just standing in for the 2nd wight, and I probably won't be using Frank N Stein for the flesh golem if the plan comes together :)

you need something to break up the green.. a yellow or white stripe down the middle ought to be enough..

I think you should try painting the helmet a tan/bone color with a green stripe, and maybe do something with the shoulderpads as well. I think the black shirt works out well.

Whatever your team colors are to be, put a stripe down the outer pants seam, and edge the pads in the same color....

Best of Luck! Love the crouching Werewolf.... :orc:

Love the display idea.

On the colours subject, I wouldn't say its boring, not at all.
I might just add i bit more yellow to the scheme (belt + shirt, or as mentioned belt + stripe in pants), and I'm sure it would be just fine!
Cheers,
A.

Hi all, the painting is temporarily on hold as I have misplaced my main brush (I have a detail and a basecoating brush, but the one I use to do most of my painting is nowhere to be found. I'll aim to buy a replacement by the end of the week).

Wights
But no painting means opportunity to finish the converting of the team. First up are a pair of wights:

Image

I struggled working out what to do for the wights - in the end I decided to evoke the Heresy wight I originally bought to use in this team, but using GW figures. The chap on the left is my favourite - Tuern Redvenom mated with a 1985 Citadel wight. The other guy I'm less satisfied with, but I'm hoping it will come together once he's painted and loses the whacky colour scheme! He's built from a second 1985 wight with an old wood elf champion torso. I can't work out whether he's beckoning or calling out a play ;)

Flesh Golem
Last, but no means least is my flesh golem. I spent ages trying to work out what to make this guy out of - I looked at Mordeheim figures, old Citadel, current GW...basically anything I could think of which might work. Norse actually sowed the seeds for this one with his suggestion a few weeks ago:

Image

The end result is a hybrid of a Bob Olley Ogre, head of Frank N Stein and the legs from a Necromunda Scaly. I sculpted the fella a new shirt and hopefully the result is a decent flesh golem who is bigger than his team-mates, yet smaller than the current big guys. I wouldn't say it's my favourite conversion on the team, but he looks pretty cool when he's stood next to his buddies. Next to the pic of the actual model is a photo concept I made before I started the conversion. I often do this to help me visualise what the end result will be. In this case I got the scales slightly out and made the ogre torso a fraction smaller, and Frank's head a fraction bigger (which actually makes the concept look better than the real thing I think!). I also considered not using the loincloth, but in the end decided to leave it.

Next up I really do hope to have some more of these painted!

Loving the look of these guys, it's getting hard to pick out the best conversion in here as they're all so good.

No, thank you! It was a needed nudge in the right direction :)

My favourite is still the first werewolf - one of those conversions that actually turned out as good as I'd hoped it might. Have just realised I haven't shown a pic of werewolf #2 - dwarf fans look away now:

Image

I very nearly just went with an unconverted Wilhelm Chaney, but then dug out the dwarf casualty. He still looked a little bit ordinary, so a skaven thrower donated an arm. Normally I only give throwers balls, but in this case there's no thrower :)
