I adopt a very similar approach to you lerchey as I’m a slow painter too. Also I do it for the enjoyment rather than the money, if I worked out my hourly rate it would probably be less than £1 an hour! But then I also turn down commissions if I don’t think I can do a suitably interesting team.

My usual approach is to do a quote for the team and ask for any money required to buy the figures up front. That way if the customer pulls out of the deal then I won’t be out of pocket and can sell the team myself. But I usually only deal with people I know or who have a history and good reputation in the BB community.

I then create a photobucket album and fill it with images that I will be using for inspiration and pictures of models that might be used as parts or the basis for colour schemes. I will then send the customer progress pics so they can see what is going on and provide feedback if they wish. I also blog about it on FUMBBL.

Once the team is completed I ask for the final payment for painting plus postage and once that has been received I post the completed team, well packaged and insured.

I'm going to use them as Human, Chaos Pact, and Chaos.... so at least I'll get a ton of use out of it to make the long journey to getting the team not quite as bad!
