The werewolf #2 and the golem are fantastic! Especially like the golem. Can you put him in a pic next to the standard Frank N Stein for size comparison?

The wight on the left is also spot on. Not that fond of the one on the right but what the heck.

(Bet Heff will love werewolf #2! )

Great work on the team!
2nd wight and Flesh Golem are my least favouriste, but they will fit nicely with the others anyhow.

Werewolves are great, and nice to see lean and sporty ghouls ( very nice conversion idea there)!

My 2 cents; black shirt, yellow stripe somewhere for the uniforms

I sure can:

He's a head taller and a good bit bulkier (but then Frank is not the biggest model in the world!)

Interesting - the wight is my least favourite. I put that in part to the whacky colours, part to the non-use of of BB figs, part to the fact that the sash is too long (and will get trimmed). In an ideal world there would have been another figure as nice as Tuern Redvenom to use, but unfortunately Jes Goodwin didn't do the rest of the Dark Elf range :-?

Right - here's where I got to last night with the display base:

Image

All the walls and gravestones glued down and joints hidden with greenstuff and the whole thing given a layer of talus. I'll need to patch it up in one or two areas before undercoating. The holes need a touch of filing to ensure they're not too snug a fit for the bases, but it's coming on nicely :)

Anyway, a question:

What don't you like about Wight #2?
Image

Wight #2 with his beckoning finger has had a significantly neutral (and in some cases negative) reaction, both here and with my offline mates. Given that I would quite like all the models in the team to be cool in their own right, I evidently need to revisit Wight 2.

On the face of it, the model design is very similar to Wight 1 - floating robes and an old-school wight head combined with an Elf torso.

So what is it? The arm pose? The head? The non BB torso - all input gratefully received :)

the mongol helmet and the come hither finger are both "wrong" IMHO...

Agree, the wights should be scary, not saying "bad dog" or something... the finger is the worst part for me.

But I really like all your other conversions, it's a cool project!

Wight #2 just doesn't look as "evil" compared with the other. #1 has a big skull face on his chest and shoulder pad, the horns on his helmet, the chainmail over his mouth -- all give him a more menacing appearance. I think the finger could make #2 look more menacing than #1 if you just help him overall.

Thanks for all the feedback on the wight. The overwhelming response here and elsewhere is that it's primarily the head which is the issue. A few people have expressed dislike of the finger, but I'm going to exercise artistic control and keep it as I like it and selected the torso model specifically for that reason - I guess I can't please everybody, and I should at least please myself ;)

So he needs a new head, I'm changing the sash, and anything I can do to 'evil-ise' him would be of benefit! I'll do some preliminary work tonight.

How about one of the plastic new Grave Guard heads? Some of them are very characterful and would suit that style down to the ground. I've a tonne of them spare as well (I think?), just none of the shoulder pads I actually need! Drop me a PM if you'd like me to hunt a couple out and post them over?

EDIT:

Something like these...

Grave guard heads definitely a big improvement..

Ax, artistic license is 100% yours, so keep the finger.. maybe just straighten the arm (and the finger, right now it looks like he's about to do an Ob-Gyn exam :o ) so that he is calling out his next victim rather than doing is Barbara Woodhouse impression...

still love that golem.. 8)

Right, thanks very much for the input on the wight all!

Don_Vito: thanks for the offer on the heads - I may yet take you up on the offer, but for now I've come up with something for consideration.

Norse: I'm afraid the "examination" finger is staying :)

Anyway, this is where he currently is - shown in B&W show you're not distracted by the whacky colours:

Image

The old mongol/witch's hat has gone and been replaced by a new three-component head. The upper half comes from a 2nd ed BB lineman, the lower half is a plastic zombie, and the Dungeons & Dragons 'Venger' head spike is from some Dark Eldar bit or other. The head has also been twisted to face forwards which I think reduces the beckoning/probing look of the finger.

The left hand (which always looked awkward to me) has been replaced, and the sash has been made much smaller. I also added a little chain and hook and spike on the right wrist guard (which might need a bit of tweaking) as part of the overall 'evil-isation'.

For me now he has much more of the BB feel, plus with added evil spikes. Any views?

Improved a lot. In this version I might even accept the finger :)

It looks like he's pointing the horn saying "look what is waiting for you!" which goes pretty well with the aggressive look of his face :)
