I really like the blending you've done between the skin and the mutated arms. The crab claw in particular is just stunningly done.
TBH though, the flagellant heads do appear a bit small (more so on some minis than others).

you mean the drow Dark Elf? pics of him on page 1..
thx for the comments guys.. in RL I don't think the heads look small, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and I really hate having too much similarity on the team.. maybe their heads are shrinking as their claws mutate..
blending on the mutations is one of my favourite things.. I usually have 3 or 4 pots of paint open at the same time and a lot of mixed colours on the tile I use.. each limb only takes about 10 minutes once you get going.. secret is to keep the paints slightly thin so they actually bleed into each other while you work..
I have a Lord of Change mini from 15 years ago whose wings go through all the colours of the rainbow, but I don't think I have any pictures anywhere..

Looking really good there, Rams. The asian skin tone works well. Maybe seeing you paint, again, will get me up off my butt.

Don't worrry mate, I was only asking because they look tiny on my GW marauders. They actually look alright on yours. Possibly because the helmet-y things add to the overall size of the heads?Norse wrote: in RL I don't think the heads look small, but beauty is always in the eye of the beholder and I really hate having too much similarity on the team.. maybe their heads are shrinking as their claws mutate..![]()

Re: Norse presents.. The Trantio Turncoats... new pics on P3
so, managed to paint up two more players over the last month or so...
first, Achmed (aka Sinister) - an assassin from Araby that Fabio hired to kill his rich uncle. The assassin botched the job though, accidentally killing Fabio's father instead. Fabio cut off his left hand in punishment and sent him back to finish the job on his uncle with his right hand...

next up one of the "stars" of the team.. an Ogre who suffered a gouged eye at the hands of a Beast of Nurgle and has, well, never really been the same since...
I have yet to give him a name, so look forward to suitably creative suggestions..

and here they are side by side, which is about as close as anyone gets to either of these weirdos!

These guys look great - I love the way you're using different skin tones but the team still looks uniform. All the neat little conversions add to the overall look too

Yikes - that guy's massive! Cracking work, as ever. Are you planning counters for TT, or are these guys display only?

Re: Norse presents.. The Trantio Turncoats... new pics on P3
thanks guys..
I should have said the Ogre's head is from the GW multi-part plastics.. I never liked that head for an "Ogre" team, but for a corrupted Chaos Ogre I think it's perfect.. Plus the original Gaspez face is about the worst of the bunch IMHO. Whatever name I finally pick for him, I suspect his team nickname will be "Reacharound"
good catch on the skin colours Ax - I want the team to look like a mismatched band of thugs that Fabio has assembled slowly over time - slaves, murderers, assasins, outcasts, mutants, weirdos, geeks etc.. all shunned by their own people and "taken in" by Fabio the Forktongued...
as for size, yeah, he's a monster, especially given I chose to put the tentacles on his outstretched hand and not his upward hand
.. I've used him in 3 table top games and he didn't get knocked over, phew!
but yes, I think tokens will be the way to go.. I may channel my inner Deathwing and get some troll/ogre/mino heads on 25mm bases to use for this... eventually... I still have another 6 or so guys to paint first!

that ogre almost warrants a 40mm pitch like at Spike

BTW, it was only when painting the mini up I realized the retards at GW had put the eye-patch over the Ogre's "good" eye, and not over the scarred eye.. d'oh!

That ogre is absolutely massive. Surprised you never rated the face. I find the Raffaele Stumpo sculpts at Gaspez some of his best work.

Awesome team, I particularly like the blending you've done between the mutated areas and the normal skin tones, your last model shows that off nicely. 2 headed goblin is excellent too.

I agree with that 100%. In fact, now that Gaspez and Impact! are on talking terms again I'm seriously considering picking up his Vamps as well (not the thralls, just the vamps). Just didn't like the Ogre face all that much - maybe I got a bad cast in fairness, because the one on the site looks good.Stompie wrote:I find the Raffaele Stumpo sculpts at Gaspez some of his best work.
