Working on the re-roll counters for the sewer pitch
2016-02-14_02-22-48 by b j, on Flickr
Still waiting for other materials to arrive so I can continue work on the rest of the board. Also, after casting 3 layers of resin I think I'll leave things as they are. Everyting went fine so far, but the resin has a sligtly brownish cast to it and I don't want it to go too dark. Will show pictures as soon as the 3rd layer dried up some more and is at least stable enough to keep it's shape

After a month and a half I can finally start breathing again. The sewer pitch did not turn out to be a total disaster.

The sewer pitch, as it stands now, is almost finished. Well, not quite. I still need to add chain fences and some signs, and I need to dullcoat a lot of surface area, but other then that things look better then I had them in mind. After the last coat of resin I let the pitch sit for weeks because of low temps in my storage room and no heating. The last layer was kind of bad. I added a further layer and that seems to have fixed things a bit.
Work continues, but I'm slowly getting to a point where I can call this project a finished one.

The sewer pitch project is slowly coming to an end. Most of the construction work is done. I need to finish the enclosing, then paint that and put some clearcoat on it.
I also still have some re-roll markers to build, but when that's done I'm pretty much finished here.

Re: Underworld/sewer/Skaven pitch WIP & Slann pitch WIP
sorry that I revive this old thread, but many of the images as missing
and I think it's a really beautifully done playing field - that's why I'd like to hear / know how the tiles are made?
I am considering similar to the 2016 edition of BB - and having problems on how I should make the 34 mm tiles. I had considered casting tiles, but can not find any mold that fits in size - and it also requires maaaaaaaaaaaany tiles ...

Many of the pictures went missing because I cleaned up my Flickr account a bit and accidentally deleted some of the pictures in the bloodbowl folder
Making these tiles is quite easy and doesn't involve casting. The finished product is quite durable however.
I'll see if I can find enough pictures to do a little writeup here.

I start with styrofoam

In this case, I picked a thinner foam for the canals, but normally I use one big sheet of 40mm foam. The yellow foam is ok, but the pink foam is more plyable so it makes for a better material to do the small brick walls
I draw the patterns using a ballpoint, then use an xacto knife and a sculpting tool to create the depth I want on the seams

For the Skaven board my girlfriend did most ofthe shaping. I only did the ballpoint work
With all the tilework done I applied paint, some washes, and texture (sand, static grass etc)

Lots of detailing to be done

After all this was done I cast the resin watermassess.
If you have questions on any of these steps, please feel free to ask

Thank you for the quick reply - and the guide!
First up, I want to finish painting my Skaven, but then I take a look at making my own sewer pitch

Hell, I also want to finish my Skaven team, but first I have to find them
I recently moved and I know they are in one of those 10 boxes with miniatures... or in one of 5 boxes with fields and terrain.... or in the box with paints and basing materials maybe?

That's quite a challenge.
Good luck finding them!

Re: Underworld/sewer/Skaven pitch WIP & Slann pitch WIP
I'm at the point of desperation (or even buying yet another Skaven team) and to make things even worse, a few of the boxes ended up on the attic at my moms place (different country)
To take my attention off these matters, I started painting testers on a 3rd edition High Elf team. Horrible miniatures, but they bring over the High Elf flair quite well, and my girlfriend suggested a paintscheme that will work really well with them.
So I hope to have Johnny's Frogmen here soon as well, and then I have some bits and pieces that could make me a Harlequin team (to be used as Dark Elves)
