Painting Star players
Do you usually paint star players in your teams colours or as they are pictured on the star player cards?
I decide to paint my Ripper, Varag, Scrappa, Fungus and Nobbla in my teams colours as they are Orc only (and goblin, I know but I'm never gonna start a goblin team) star players.
Griff,Horkon, Headsplitter and Hakflem in my humans, Dark Elf and Skaven team colours.
However, Zara and Morg, I painted as pictured on the star player card because they can play for multiple teams.

I like it if they don't match the team, after all they are freebooted in league play, but either way is cool.

Okay, but the idea behind it is, if a coach in real life gets a player from another team (maybe the player is leant (sp?) to the team, like it happens sometimes in soccer) that coach wouldn't want that player to be walking around in his old team colours, would he?
I know that it's Blood Bowl and players are more or less picked out of a bar, but if I were a coach I would still make them wear our team colours (got some spare kit laying around?)
As a Blood Bowl boardgame player I like it when my team all look uniformed (and these big shot star players better wear my colours).
Just my 2 cents

If you want to use fluff as part of you argument, then just tell me how you're going to convince Lord Borak the Despoiler to let you paint his armor...

I hear he's a drinker so wait till he's drunk and paint it after that
convince him that it'll wash right off (and run for the hills).
But seriously, I do understand your point as that's the way they are pictured (on the cards, magazines etc.) but i still choose the uniformed look
If only for the simple fact to distinquish them if my opponent plays (or has with him) the same star player.

I haven't yet painted any of my Star Player figs, but when I do, they are being painted in my team colours. Two reason for this. First off is they are playing for my team, and I want my team to look uniform. Second, I don't use Star Players as Star Players, but as positional players with different figs, so it makes more sense to have them in the same colours of my team.

I do the same with Ripper (as it's the only Troll player currentley available) sometimes I use him as Ripper and sometimes as Troll Big Guy, so he has to be in team colours.
The same with Scrappa and Nobbla I can use them as star players or secret weapon goblins (the only star player for the orcs I'm missing is Bomber, I have to get him sometime)

I do have a few that I use as rookie players (i.e. Hthark and Grashnak) so they are in team colors. Basically, it just comes down to whatever you like

Hmm! It is my Opinion that they should be your team colors. However, If you play multiple teams that have access to the very same Star Players, then one might be inclined to paint them as they look on the card so that they dont have to be repainted every time that they swap teams. For the most part, most Head Coaches only field a few teams at a time. Of which, that means there is probably little to no Cross-Over. But even still, it is a personal decision. I think that I will try to use Star Players as a chance to showcase my modeling skills. Which means, after talking myself into doing it this way, from discussing it on this thread, I have some repainting to do. But first I think that I will finish my Orc team!

I don't mind if Big Guy's armor doesn't perfectly match the teams colors. BB armor that size may be hard to find so it's alright if they don't have a matching set. Other than that, I like my boys to kind of match each other but I like things broken up a bit. a 3 color palette with some players having more of one color than another but all the colors the same works well for me. I'll keep the Human-ish teams the same colors, blue-white-black for example and then just paint one Griff in similar colors, maybe adding some gold for his vanity or something. that's just an example.
Just my thoughts on it. If it's a unique Big Guy, like Hthark, straight team colors work best for me.

team colours are a bit redundant in blood bowl 'cos it's usually obvious who's on your team ( that big green dude with the tusks down that end of the field isn't gonna be a reikland reaver now, is he ?
)
I usually paint them 'gw' colours, but with influences towards my own team colours. Unless I really hate the gw colours.

Well with the current rules they can never join your league team 'full time' and so I feel it is entirely appropriate for these guys to choose their own style of dress (please tell me if you have actually seen a Starplayer in a dress, that would be great...
).
They are freebooters, you are not hiring another member of the team, you are hiring a loner who is very flash and proud of his individual ability and skill. I think it would not be quite right for them to be in your teams colours, to blend in with the team.
I do think that there is still a very good arguement for them to be painted in different ways, simple personal choice and variety. When I get back into league play (hopefully after Christmas) I intend to paint any stars I use in my own colour scheme, maybe similar to the GW pics, but only if I particularly like them.
