Anyone know where these are from?

Post by tarzom »

I recently got these figures in a large lot from ebay - anyone know where they're from?

Image

they seem to be American football players.
They're all 25mm scale, metal and have loose heads.
I've included a halfling for scale.

I'll be putting them up for sale on ebay soon, if anyone's interested.

I've seen them before, but can't remember where they're from. They were pieces from an American Football game way back when IIRC.

I'll take one or two off you if you like?

An old 1980s game called GridIron, I believe. I think Avalon Hill made the game (although I could be wrong) but I couldn't tell you who made the minis.

Thanks for your help.

If anyone wants one (or more) PM me soon.

Alternatively, I'll give one anyway free to anyone who reminds me when paying for one of the lots that I've just listed on ebay:

If it is the game I think it it then it was called "Football Strategy" or something very much like that. It was part of the Avalon Hill "Sports Illustrated" line of strategic sports games. There was a new version almost every year (60s-70s I think) with stat packs from various teams and seasons. A friend had a copy years ago, I had forgotten all about it. I am unsure but the minis in his game were cardboard punchouts I think. Wonder what it would be worth today?

I was able to find this link about it.
