What colors for Lizardmen?

Post by EmperorNorton »

Hi there!

I'm going to paint a Lizeardmen team in the next two weeks or so and I don't know what colors to use.
I don't want all of them to be either blue or green. At least one of them will have black/red skin. What other skincolors could they have?
And what about team colors?

paint the skin blue - i reckon it looks more exciting than green. Green flesh bit more orc/hobo type pallete.

Er m kit was pink but not a popular choice i guess. still not got a digital camera but my team and an even better lizard team on travellers excellent website -http://www.ruediger-rickassel.de/

Best advice paint them what colour you think you want them to be :)

Also, it's a good idea to paint them all in the same colour, but have variations in tone.

Doing several different colours are kinda unfluffy as the colour is dependant on their tribes and which gene pool they're stemming from. Black and red might look good, but do the whole team black and red. Maybe do the krox albino to make him stand out a bit more... albino lizzies are da bomb. :)

Then again, if you _want to paint the team with different colours by all means be my guest. Do what _you feel like and never mind the fluffers. :D

I painted my lizardmen with grey skin and orange/yellow scales. It looks great. My friend painted his orange/yellow with dark orange/red scales. Looks awesome.

Yeah, the wonderful thing with Lizardmen is that you can pretty much use any colour. Have fun, but as said before, try to keep the colours standard through the whole team.

A bone-coloured Lizardman team would look cool... you could call them Khemri Lizards!

Bone-colored? You mean paint them in 'bleached bone'?

I think I'll have to go through a few books about dinosaurs and some such.
But I'll most likely go with a black skin/red scales scheme and add a little green and gold for their garments.

I'd like to see some done in yellow. Dunno why, but bright, banana yellow sounds like it would be either fantastic or dreadful.

My own are crimson (Red Gore) and Yellow.

I painted my first skink today, but I'm not really impressed by the outcome.
He looks mostly black and that's pretty boring. How can I touch up the skin? How do I produce lighter or darker shades of black to make him look more realistic?

Good way to get color ideas is to go to the local <GASP> Library </GASP> and look through a few reptile books. There are some awesome colors in nature that will make great team colors for a Lizzie team. I personally am basing my krox I have off of the Gold and almost Lime green of a species from the rainforest. Plus it will give you good ideas as to which pigments to put where...
