An other way to get Khemri

Post by lineman »

After reading these threads about how poor the Khemri miniatures are, I've been thinking about an other way to get a Khemri team, and I hope someone can tell me whether this is a good idea or not:

I have two undead mummies and three undead skeletons, which I haven't painted yet. If I buy two Khemri mummies, I will have all the mummies I need. To get the skeleton linemen I think about using the Warhammer Tomb Kings Skeleton Regiment (but not the weapons): http://uk.games-workshop.com/storefront ... orignav=13

For Thro-Ras and Blitz-Ras I wonder if I can use the undead skeletons. The fluff about Khemri says that thro-ras and blitz-ras get their abilities because of magic helments, and the undead skeletons have helmets. I just have to paint them in "magic" colours. I need to buy one more undead skeleton. The two skeletons with spikes on the helmets look most like blitzers, I think, and then the two remaining skeletons will be thro-ras.

Do you think this is a good idea?

Are the "Tomb kings" skeletons the metal multi-part nightmare that the Bloodbowl Khemri are?

Not really, but just look at the spreueuess. Only making the ribs fit good is the problem.

And its a heck of a lot easier to put the plastics together than fiddle around with tiny metal bits....

To get all the 8 skeletons I need, it looks like I need two of the Skeleton regiment sprue. Is this correct, or do I need to buy the TOMB KINGS SKELETON SPRUE too?

And I think I will use these bases:

If you want your skeletons to look khemrian I would suggest also buying the Tombkings sprue.

Do you know how many I need of each to get 8 skeletons? 2 Skeleton Regiment Sprue and 1 TOMB KINGS SKELETON SPRUE?

In answer to your original question, it should be easier to work with the plastic than metal when assembling a team. That being said, you won't have any less parts to put together and a bit more trimming to remove weapons.

To make 8 skeletons- 2 skeletal sprues and 1 Tomb Kings sprue looks correct. Though on the cost side, I don't think you are going to save terribly much money going this route as that is £12 and a team box (with mummies) is £20. If you have any problems with putting the miniatures together, feel free to PM me and I will see what I can do to help you out.

If you want the Khemri arms without the weapons, GWUK does sell the arm sprues for the BB team separately (though it isn't listed online, call them...).

The Right Arm Sprue is 9947099905111
The Left Arm Sprue is 9947099905115

I believe they are £1.50 each and they have 5 arms on a sprue. The only difference between regular skeletal arms and khemri skeletal arms is that the khemri ones have armbands.

And if you want the scarab shoulder/knee pads and loincloths (2 pair of pads and 2 loincloths), they sell those separately as well. The number is 9947099905109 at £1.00 each.

Having put together two of the Khemri BB teams and have a third (modified) one on the way, I am interested in seeing how your project comes out.

Cheers,

Torpor

I think I would use the plastic ones for my next Khemri team but just the torso and legs. These parts brake apart most often during the game.

Here you can see the bits of the BB team:

Also have look here:

Ask me for the part numbers of the mummies if you want them.

I still didn´t find the time to paint my skeletons

Thank you all for your help.
It will be some time until I try this, however. I have other miniatures that need assembling and painting before I buy a new team. But now I know that I will save my Undead mummies and skeletons to try to make a Khemri team later (An other option was to paint them in the same colour as my Necromancer team, to have the option to play Undead)

I got the Khemri Skeleton Regiment for my team- it was excellent. I used normal heads for my line skeletons, and used the psuedo-egyptian headgear for my blitz-ras and throw-ras. My blitz-ras got the skeletal torsos with armour plating. And there are enough little bracelets, bandages etc. floating around on the sprue to make each figure individual.

I used Reaper mummies. Check out some of their Warlord range- awesome.

So get yourself a few mummies, and get the Khemri Skeleton box- you won't need the ones you've got at the moment, so you can practice paint schemes.

I recommend the tomb guard for linemen as well. They are heavier, more detailed and already have that perfect "lineman" pose with a quick weapon snip and a few touch-ups. I used this approach for my "Lost Ark Raiders" tourney team. I'll try and get some pics up...
