which colors for my skaven team...

Post by Gremlin »

hi,

i actually asked myself, which colors to use for my skaven.
in case, i want to make their "team color" violett.

but i am new to painting miniatures, so i have no colors at home to compare which is the best for making the FUR and the SKIN. There are so many brown colors, i don't know which to use. help me...

the other thing is the clothing of the miniatures. is everything i need to do buy a tin of "warlord violett" or what tipps can u give me. or do u think violett is too "gay" ;)

thanks for any replies that help me further

Well, I'm new to painting too, and was thinking of violet for my Skaven
I think I saw some pics once, one guy with the oven glove of doom, and funky violet duds.
I'm interested in some tips for these guys too.

My plan is (and please correct me all)
Spray white undercoat
Then dry brush (which I take to mean real thin layer) 2 or 3 layers of brown (scorched brown) on the linemen, tan (tanned leather?) on the gutter runners and storm vermin.
Then, brown ink wash on all.
Then more brown once again.
Touch up the other bits as I go along.

Ideally, I would like an albino runner. White under, several dry layers of white (should I use bone in here?), pink eyes and hopefully nice violet trim....

I think both of us just need lots of practice..... any help appreciated.

Bleached bone works well, even better if you give them a tartan trim. Can you imagine it!

relaxx!! 8)

you can use all colours you like !
I used "snake-bite leather" as the fur colour for my first skavens and somekind of tanned flesh colour ( can't remember which colour exactly)

but for my new skaven team I want to do something different maybe gray or white.
or some rats white and grey.
most people make the skin a more tanned "humanoid" skin or something like that and the fur a brown.

for the team colours there are also all options !
and violet is NOT gay or something !
check out Longfangs Skavens ! those are great and also purple !!

just paint them how you like!!
chose the colours you think fit good together and just paint!
in the beginning the minis won't look great but you'll learn fast!
