Dwarf Ref, where are his eyes?

Hi

I just started to paint the dwarf ref yesterday night and I have a hard time with his face. To me it seems that he is looking down but I can not figure out where his eyes are in the figure.

Is there anyone with a picture of him painted that would post it here or give my some other pointers?

Br
Ken

I am not sure, but I think he has his eyes closed (he's blowing his whistle really hard)...

I painted him looking down at the watch.
He seems to me as if he is counting down seconds until the final whistle blow

To me he seems to be "sad" or something like that, I will have to take an other look to find out what to do with his face.

I would still enjoy to see how others have painted this ref if possible.

You recognize that the "ref's got no eyes" is a pretty standard complaint/gag, right? I'd paint over 'em entirely or give him some blind-man sunglasses or a blindfold and just roll with the joke.
