Bases: Round or square does it make a difference?

I'm cobbling together some blood bowl teams from warhammer fantasy figures that I got from a hobby store that was going out of buisness (60% mmm tasty!).
I was wondering if there was any opposition to using the square bases they came on instead of buying some more round ones.
I would still paint the color coding on the sides but I was curious if anyone would be cranky if I did it.
Thanks.

Round is smooth, curvy and a dit like a blood bowl......better than being a rigid, tight cornered square any day!!

I used square bases for my lizzie team converted from WFB figs, but that was because I couldn't get them to stay stunned/prone on round ones (damn tails).
Much prefer round ones though.

Rounds is prefered, however I do not think Ian or I would bonk you for square bases. I put the Grunts on round bases, even though they are made from a Tomb Kings Skele box.

If you brought sqaure bases to my tournament I'd ban your a$$ from playing, confiscate them, and inflict bodily harm upon you
j/k
Most prefer round, but they're your minis so do what you like

but how do you get a round base for a big guy that doesn't come with one?

Melifaxis I'm coming to your brouhaha so I better make it round bases.
Or at least make my high elves so badly or freakishly painted that no one would want to steal them.... hmm bright flourescent pink dragon warriors.
Of course not may people like or play the high elves so I might be safe regardless.
I will see if I can scrounge up some round bases. I was not aware that there was such a proud heritage of the round bases!

Darkson:
I hear you with the lizzardmen, they are impossible to get to lay prone. I find that setting them on their side for prone and upside down for stun works pretty well.
Anyone know what size the big guy round bases are? I would hate to have to try and wedge my poor kroxigor onto a normal round base.

one- boar i painted my elves pink, stinkin elves
two- you can get round bases that fit a big guy, ussually you can order them, they come with 40k orc warbosses and some other stuff
round bases are very needed for big guys, cause the square bases are impossible to fit on the pitch
I use square bases on 70% of my bloodbowl figs, it's easier to set the stunned and i label the flat sides with the players number and position so there is less confusion on converted figs. plus the square bases fit perfect in the feilds squares.

I've got a whole mess of hex bases including several metal ones. Let me know if you want to make a deal.
