Fantasy -> BloodBowl (Khemri)

Post by Phaeron »

I've bin looking at a khemri team for a week or 2 now (and won a couple of proxy games -- rock on mummy cage) but i can't help not liking the mummies and skellies you get in the packs (if not for the fact that they are ALL metal, even the fragile lil skellies)

So anyway, i'm planning on a basic team, but my plan is to do as follows:

Convert a Fantasy Tomb King to represent Ramtut III
Use 4 Ramtut III bloodbowl models as mummies (for me it looks too good to be factored out completely - after all, its one of the few khemri bb models i like)
Convert 2 Tomb Guard to Thro-Ra
Convert 2 Tomb Guard to Blitz-Ra (make the thro and blitz different by paint job probably)
Use 8 Skellies as they come (minus shields etc)

I know thats too big as a team goes, but i'm working on sprue sizes etc, how they come packaged to try and keep the price down by buying components etc...

I was just wondering if anyone had tried anything similar / has any advice...

All comments appreciated :)

Hey Phaeron

I love the Ramtut model, but 4 of them.... Wheres the fun in that?
How about some Reaper Warlord Mummies? Not that theres anything wrong with your list, but it can be spiced up!

great site, and nice models, but the only problem for me is the $16 shipping charge to the uk, i mean :O $16.00 !!!!!

r.e. the 4 of them... i was planning to do some dremel & gs work to give them different poses etc.. i just think it looks good as a mummy model...

its something mentioned in a lot of tactica posts etc which works very well for securing the ball (especially with bashy teams where its hard to pick up once dropped)

Basically you have your runner in the middle then in the case of khemri, 4 mummies around them in a cage. This means anyone trying to attack / push / strip ball / block or whatever on the carrier has to go thru at least 2 tackle zones from the mummies and also face up to any counter from them...

As i said, its a good tactic... works very well in my experience

another good idea when assembling the Khemri. Pick up a skeleton regiment box, Vampire Counts or Khemri, and use the bodies of the skeletons in there, and attach the metal bitz to them, makes it a ton easier to deal with.

i had plans to use all plastic skellies (the khemri fantasy models) then do a small amount of conversion on them. The other models shouldn't be too bad, just have to tidy up the weapons so they are smaller, less obvious (after all, how many blood bowlers do you see with 3 foot swords... ok bad example :))

Anyway thanks for all the comments

It's not that hard to paint skeletons.

Just paint white, then flesh wash, then drybrush bleached bone. They look pretty good then.

i've done my shopping, so i'm just waiting on delivery.. as for painting, i've painted up some skeletons before for my friends fantasy army... Best way i found was to undercoat black, use bleached bone on the outer bones, then a very watered down ink wash of chesnut, followed by a skull white highlight. That looks pretty good, and it doesn't take too long to do so, thats probably what i'll be going with.

As for bandages etc, it'll probably something similar with a slightly heavier was with the ink...

Either way i'll post up some pics once i get sorted.

Thanks for the comments people :)

I'm doing the same for my Khemri

I bought a set of Tomb Guards and cut off hands / arms / torso's etc to turn htem into pick-up Ra's and Blitz-Ra's

I got a load of old mummy's but I'm not sure yet if I'll use those or use the normal undead ones .. or do some hand swapping between the two of htem.

For skellies I'll use both the normal BB khemri stuff, plastic skellies and khemri skellie bits (heads mostly)

Or spend £80 on bits for a Khemri team and never get round to putting them together, eh hoomin? :)

Personally, for this years BB I've used cursed company skellys for, uhm.. skellys, converted BB mummes for (you guessed it!) mummies and the skelly with chainsaw and a 3rd edition skelly as the bltizers.

Chairface,

As usual, you have excellent ideas for replacement models. 2 of those mummies are sooooo cool and that Blitzer... damn he is awesome! I am probably going to make a Khemri team just because of those models. Man... awesome! Of course, I have to finish my orc team and my human team and my female elf team before I do that Khemri team.

Thanks Sal!

I can completely sympathize! I'll do my Khemri after I finish my Ogres, my Necros, my Chaos Dwarfs, my Leprechaun/halflings......
