im back and need a hand....

Post by goonerz »

howdy folks,

not posted in a while because i have nearly finished my new undead team but i need to get hold of some shields to complete them (i am also using them to build a SM army in 40k!)

the shield i need is a coffin shape with a skeleton squashed in. I have only one but need as many as i can get!

here is the pic i have of the one i already own -

- can you id the shield? which models did it originally come with? do you have any lost in your bits boxes?

Please help a fellow gamer

Regards,
Goonerz

Don´t know the one you posted but you can also take these ones:

Altenatively you can try to duplicate the one you have with a selfmade greenstuff mould.

I´m not sure, I didn´t try it myself yet. I planed to make some extra balls that way. Maybe I will try it today. I will at first cover one half in GS and release the ball when it is half dried or so. Then when the GS is totally hardened, I will add the other half. I think I will put some vaseline or so between the moulds and/or the ball so the parts won´t stick to each other.

In your case it should be a bit simpler because the shield is more a relief (sp?) than a three dimensional object so maybe one mould is enough and you can flatten the greenstuff on the open side.
Should also not be a big problem to get the new greenstuffed shield out of the mould because GS is always a bit elastic.

So far as I recall Del tried something similar with his Skaven team for the logo on the rat ogre´s shoulder pad.

Anyway, I will search the web for this now. I will post here when I found something.

I've done green stuff casting many times - heres an article I wrote on the subject:

http://www.drunkdwarves.com/pages/artttgttccasting.html

The larger the piece, the more difficult it will be to get a good cast - but Im sure this piece wont prove too difficult.

The shield belongs to a series of themed shield sprues cast back in 1990 by GW. They were sold separately and didn’t come with the army boxes of that time, IIRC. Should be hard to find now - especially in larger numbers.

Hey there,

Being an old git, I know I have some of those kicking around somewhere. I will try to get off my duff and go poke around a bit in the basement see what I can come up with.
