Taking Off / Masking Weapons

I'm trying to remove an axe from an orc mini, in order to use him as a lineman. He has an axe stuck to his backside, and I'm trying to remove the damn thing. I don't have a modeling saw (don't really want to buy one). Any tips on removing the unwanted blob of lead? Also, once I've got it off, the removal site is going to look somewhat untidy. Any tips on masking the area?

Thanks in advance.

I tend to just cut them away with the clippers and then greenstuff the damaged area to make it look whole again.

Clippers work for me and then a bit of filing...you got a needle file ? if not pince a nail file off your missus, sister or mum and rub the sharp bits down a little. Then green stuff or miliput works. Or you could glue a cloak or something on his back?

Good luck!

I've got a set of files that I've been using, and I've been snipping stuff off with a pair of wirecutters. What a pain in the arse.

Thanks for the help.

Fool around with some green stuff. With a little practice you'll be able to do some really cool things.

Why remove it? Sometimes weapons look more logical on the figure.
But if you wanna remove it, I suggest Margarett's tip.

Because weapons on the pitch are supposed to be SECRET! :D Actually, I don't care much one way or the other to be perfectly honest.

I used the Black Ork with the horn on the front of his helmet. The axe against his side was removed with clippers and I just greenstuffed new mail and wrapped his fist in chain and the other got a leather strap with studs greenstuffed.

I cut stuff off with my modelling blade, one chip at the time. Work methodically, some things break down into hundreds of tiny chips. Yeah, it takes a while, but it doesn't deform the entire mini as the clippers tend to do.
