Razorbakz - Neomics orc team

Post by SinisterDexter »

Hi all

I've had these Neomics orc figures hanging around since Southern Shrike Bowl 09 and they are incredible figures, so I picked one up a little while back and decided to paint a few. Long story short they have turned out to be some of my best paint jobs to date, and I wanted to share. The Neomics figures are absolutely brilliant and have made painting them an absolute joy. Kudos to the sculptor/s.

Anyway, here is the Thrower:

And here is the Blocker:

For those that are inclined, the CMON linkfor the Blocker (when it clears) will be http://www.coolminiornot.com/266773

Also, if you're interested, I have recently started a painting blog called SinDex Studio. A lot of my projects are Blood Bowl based, so it should appeal. Check it out at http://sindexstudio.blogspot.com/ and let me know what you think.

very neat and clean - the highlighting on the numbering is extremely impressive, kudos sir..

any reason why you did not pick out the nuts and bolts in different colours though? I can't help thinking the armour would look better with contrasting black or metallic bolts..

Really? I weighed up adding battle damage to the plates all up but I really wanted a 'clean' look (unusual for orcs, yes). Also, it's hard to tell in the pic due to the lighting, but the four bolts on the small circular plate near his right shoulder are metal. But the idea was that the armour plates probably get a new paint job just before each game.

Very impressive painting. The colours are beautiful and crisp, and I think it is a very nice touch that you have avoided brown all together, it definitely enhances the clean look. Fantastic job!

thanks, it's really a pleasure to see those pics :D

I really like the bright colors, even though that's really not what I had in mind when sculpting them (actually I can probably say the same about all painted teams I've seen!)
I'm glad you enjoyes painting them and could do a team color scheme rather than the brown postapocalyptic mess I had in mind ;)
well, maybe just a brown lining here and there...

regarding armor and metal bolt, it looks good to me, again it's different from what I had in mind but it looks good, and that's the only things that matters.

now you have at least 9 or 10 more to paint ;)

Wow - these are great.
I'm glad I only stumbled upon this post after I'd done my team or I might have given up before I started.
Having said that, I do like how you avoided brown on the straps etc, which I'd done that myself... next time maybe :)

Anyway, great paint job.

Thanks. I'd forgotten I started this thread. The team is actually very close to being finished now and is going to be playing at Southern Shrike Bowl next weekend. They will also be featured in issue 6 of BL!TZ Magazine.

If you cannot stall out for an 8 turn drive to score with dwarves then you need to go and play canasta with your dad..if you can find him.
