making a drider. any suggestions?

Post by bound for glory »

in the dungeons and dragons monster manual there are monsters called DRIDERS. they are a cross between a spider and a dark elf.
i wanted to make one for bb. the figure would need a dark elf from the waist up and a spiders body. i'd like it to fit on a 40mm base.
what i need is the spider lower body. any suggestions?

Reaper has (or had) some driders (or whatever the called them) in their catalogue.

They have also spiders of various sizes.

I know that Sann converted dwarves with the Goblin spiders to make unusual chaos dwarf centaurs. Don't see why that wouldn't work for dark elves too.

i contacted el superbeastos about the driders and made a low offer. i did'nt mean to offend him, but i did'nt know the figures in question were rare and oop.
anyway, any other ideas?

As Bert said, I use Spider-dwarves as my Bull Centaurs:

These used the spiders from the Forest Goblins bit of the Warhammer box.

Here is what i would use.
Shelob from the lord Rings line.
Bits from a Dark Elf,your choice 40k or Fantasy.
This would be a pretty simple conversion.

No offence taken! :D
I think I have an old Middle-Earth Giant Spider somewhere as well.

It would be cheaper than the driders although not as cheap as your offer.
However, I think it might be too big for a 40 mm base - can't remember the exact size, though. PM me if it has any interest.
