I made a pitch (basic and easy)

Haven't been here one the forum for around 2(?) years...
Also haven't produced any new models for that long. I have played some BB though...
Yesterday was rainy so I decided to finally go ahead and build the custom BB-field I've planned for many years. I already owned two felt mats (I have one simulating grubble too) and just went and bought a base on the local hardware store.
I glued the mat with PVA and used a white marker pen to draw the lines and mark the squares. I used pins and a long metal ruler on which I marked the distance between squares on a tape. This made it easy to give the squares the correct size since.
It's still WIP. I need to paint some blood and gore on it and I'm thinking about building a score board, but that's it. The pitch took about 3-4 hours all in all (I didn't even wait for the glue to dry)
Then I simulated a game just to get the feel of it.
Tips, comment, criticism most welcome!

Did you use measurements straight from the BB boxed field, or use your own.
Love the simplicity of it.

Great! I would add more "mud" on the LOS, it's the place where there is less grass.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Yup I used the "correct" measurements. These are as you know not really easy to replicate with a standard ruler though so I put a tape (the paper one you use for masking of areas when you paint your house) on the ruler and put the ruler right next to the field from the box and marked where the crosses should be. Then I used that as a "ruler" when marking out the squares. This way I can use the passing ruler from the box. Makes it easier IMO.
I'll think about spreading some more gravel on the LoS.
For this evening I'm planning a score board. Let's see how it turns out...

Wow, looks fantastic and can't believe how quick and easy you make it look. Well done! I really like the look of your converted teams as well (and I'm really jealous of your yellow and black Block Dice, hahaha).
Can't wait to see the scoreboard.

You want it, you got it.
I built the score board from balsa wood (correct term?). Just as before I'm doing it basic and easy.
This is around 3 hrs worth of work.
I made small boards that will hang on nails, showing turns and score. To make as few as possible I'm going to mark both sides so I will have to make less of them.
And last but not least I magnetized the whole set so it will stand but still be easy to remove for transport and storage. Also I can use it future pitches I hope I'll make.
This is how it will look. It's a bit big but I hope it won't look strange.
After these pics were taken I've added some blood and gore and some more sand around the LoS. Also the stand and all the small boards have been coated with some quick shade. That what they look more like oak and are much better looking IMO.

Love it, but the middle zone on your pitch is one square too wide.
Kidding! Hope I made you look
Seriously, good job though. I like how simple it is

Ha! I'm easily scared.
Actually, halfway through painting the white stuff my heart almost stopped when I thought that I'd done just that...
I've counted numerous times...

Great job Ikterus!
Love both the pitch and the score board.
I've done a couple boards too and used the very same technique to mark the squares.
It's very easy, just needs a bit of patience.
Congrats!
A.

Jay on this entire project, but especcially on the ads!
The 'Ogre' ad, is it supposed to be a spoof on LEGO?

Yup, LEGO it is. The ads are all from this forum. Check out the sticky above.

Nice job!
The blood stains on the pitch look good, but personally I would darken slightly that bright red, it seems a bit fake.
I would love to play on your pitch!
