Norse "Khornily" presents...

this is a bit of a leap of faith given that I have no idea what the Khorne roster contains, how it plays, whether the NAF will sanction the roster or if this guy will ever get used at all, but in any case I got the urge to do something silly - $30 and 20 +/- hours of work later...

if I never have to paint red again, it will be too soon.. let me assure you, red wunz definitely do not go faster..

Very nice paint job. If you put white strips on his wings you could make him a Referee that always looks away when a foul happens. ;)

I also like your paintjob and would like to know what mini is it and what size is it. Thanks in advance.

It's a converted Games Workshop Plastic Daemon Prince.

it's a warhammer multi-part plastic daemon prince with a weapon snip and a greenstuff helmet..

the hardest part of the conversion was getting his feet onto a 40mm base (he comes with a 60mm base!).. the end result meant the join at his hips was also out of alignment and needed filled. At one point I was planning on giving him a tail, but an online check of Bloodthirster images confirmed there has never been one with a tail apparently, so I went with some barbs, chains and other grisly bits instead of painting up a bare assed Bloodthirster.

Glad you guys like him 8)

For those of us who aren't at that level of painting yet, could you explain (and maybe give a color ratio) how you achieved such a nice deep red?

sure.. my paints are all a good 5+ years old now, so apologies if these colours mean nothing any more..

black spray primer

scab red base coat

thin wash made of diluted scab red mixed with black and dark brown paint

scab red re-coat

50% scab 50% blood highlight

blood red final highlight

the key for me was never to go beyond blood red no matter how much I wanted to do another highlight, otherwise he would end up orange. layers of the same colour also help to create a brighter highlight, so if I wanted a brighter highlight, I just went back in with the blood red again and again..

couple of good testors dullcoats to bring the shades "together" somewhat..

:D

I said this in the Golden Football thread, but it's worth repeating here; really nice figure - love the helmet. Are we going to see a full team? :)
