Bull Centaurs?

Post by smokingmonkee »

Does anyone know how the Mantic halfbreeds compare in size to Forgeworld Chaos Dwarves? I was thinking about using the Mantic bodies with FW Dwarf torsos but I'm not sure if they will work. ?I know the FW Bulls are too big.

The GW bull centuar bottoms from model like HatRack work perfectly with fw dwarfs, the mantic ones are skinny.

I don't entirely understand the question, but I made a boar centaur with the upper body of a mantic abyssal dwarf and it looks just fine to me, if that is in any way helpful. The FW Infernal Guard look like they're normal dwarf size to me, ie. the same size as mantic's dwarfs.

Here's my bull centaur conversion if you want to see how a FW torso looks on a GW bull centaur body.

Thanks Arthur I was afraid the Mantic halfbreeds would be too small since all the Kings of War stuff seems to be close to 25mm as opposed to the 28mm of GW.

Funny, I am nearly done assembling a Chaos Dwarf team made up entirely of Mantic models, except for the Minotaur which is from Reaper. I should dig up a GW Dwarf to see the size difference between the two companies. Within their own range, the Halfbreeds look fine to me compared to the Abyssal Dwarf infantry.

That's really cool, man. I'd like to see more of your conversions - I remember you posted some WIP pics once of a Chaos or Nurgle warrior converted from the finecast champion. Very cool. It certainly looks like your painting's coming along faster than mine, too!

*De-rails thread slightly* I haven't painted for a while but I am about to order a new team so expect something new in the not so distant future. Unfortunately the CDs isn't going anywhere, some of the players got vacuumed up by accident. :/
May start a non-forum blog but I'm not very computer literate.
*pushes thread back on track*

I really like that conversion. Are the BB Bull Centaur bodies the same as the old GW fantasy ones?

@ OP, I've just finished painting a team which has 3 BCs made with mantic half breeds, using the Forge World CDs. I think the fit is about right - I'll post up pics in the next couple of days.

I took some side by side photos earlier tonight of a Mantic Halfbreed and a BB Bull Centaur; I'll post them tomorrow, but they are very, very close in size.

Awesome work. The mantic ones are more dynamic, too; sweet.

Keen to see those other conversions, too!
