Warmachine miniatures

Hey folks,
I rarely put together models, but I'm thinking about starting a new team. What it might be, I have no idea, so I wandered down to my local game hobby store for some ideas.
They are pretty light on GW models, but they do have a lot of Warmachine stuff. I was wondering if you could make some Chaos Pact out of Warmachine? What's the size like for the models, and how convertable are they? Has anyone given it a try?

I shoved some minis together, not great pics but should give an idea of sizes.

I'd imagine Skorne would be the best guys to use. Nice shoulder pads and stuff already.

Ooh, thanks muchly. Those look interesting.
I was looking at the Legion stuff,
http://privateerpress.com/hordes/galler ... los/incubi for the linos, and some of their warbeasts for the 3 big guys.
Would those work in a BB field? The shop didn't have any assembled miniatures to show me

They should work, base size is probably your best indicator there. 40mm base is about right for Big Guys and 30mm is fine for rank and file. 50mm is too big I think (unless you play on a custom 40mm board of course).
In terms of converting, they're mostly metal models so if you're happy enough with working with metal then it should be fine.

Great tip about the bases. To expand it, in that style which many call "lipped base", 30mm means the top zone is 23mm (pretty much like in classic 25mm bases) and 40mm has 31mm (30mm with classic edge gives 28mm or so at the top, it seems the classic edge is 1mm each side). For completness, 50mm has 40mm usable. So as long as the feet never get over the black lip, you're safe with miniatures sold with 30 and 40mm lipped bases.

Their human-sized figures are bigger than GW, but by a wide mark. A mate made a team using Menoth figures (as a human roster iirc). Looked OK, unfortunately can't find any pics.

I own quite a few Skorne and Cryx miniatures.
If there is anything from that range of which you wish to see a comparison to GW Bloodbowl mini´s let me know and I can take some pictures.
I also have some Warmachine Mercenaries.
They have very nice dynamic poses and will not be much larger then the 3rd edition BB mini´s made by GW. The Skorne Titans might be pushing things a bit though. They are really quite big

Echoing the Solitaire, I have many Cryx minis....
I currently use a pair of mechanithralls as wights on my premier Necro team, the rest of the team being primarily '2nd edition size'.... The minis are maybe a half head taller and nearly unnoticeable on the field.... I think you will find them serviceable... and maybe smaller (by a thin margin) than the Willy minis... or at least compatible....
Having said all that, the werewolves are HONKIN' HUGE and useless....
Take a standard size (whatever you decide to base your team around) figure and compare to what is in the warmachine packages (torso to torso if in pieces)....
Hope that helps....

That's a great idea, those guys definitely look very fitting in a vampire style I think. Much nicer than GW's vamps certainly.
