Variant Norse linemen?

Post by Darkson »

I'm getting the figures together to make a Norse team (which I won't be painting, thank god!), but I'm a bit stuck on what to use as linemen figures.

As it stands, I'm using the following figures:

Blitzers: GW Norse Blitzers - sorry, but I actually like them!
Runners: Heresy Werewolves http://heresyminiatures.com/shop/index. ... 30f76fc621
Ulfwerners: Heroclix Wendigo http://www.trollandtoad.com/pd1679100.html
Snow Troll: ZNGames Wild Ulfhedner http://zngames.com/catalog/product_info ... ucts_id=30
Thrower: One will probably be the GW one, unless I see something that takes my fancy at Salute. The other is a tourney fig I got, though I can't remember which one it is at the moment.

But I'm stuck on the Lineman position. I really dislike the line dancing GW ones (a fault of most of it's 3rd ed range), and the plastic Marauder figures aren't a lot better - the legs make them look a little static. Thought about using Vikings and/or Celts from Warlord or Gripping Beast, but they're all a little to clothed for my choice.

So...

Anyone know of a range of bare-chested Vikings/Celts that's to the same scale as GW figures?

(If they have a wolfy feel and/or wolf attatchments, all the better!)

Chek historical minis. They are some in 28 mm tall range. There is also the range of the Perry's.

I quite like Mirliton's Barbarians range. Their beserkers look pretty good:

There's a particularly good messanger figure which would be great for runners:

Chronopia Sons of Kronos are ideal, after a weapon snip or two..

there also used to be a range of minis by a manufacturer called Celtos

Hey Norse, had a quick image search for "Chronopia Sons of Kronos", and got some interesting figures, but I'm having difficulty finding them in stores.
Do you know you sales/sold them? Or am I limited to ebay etc?

Off-topic, but it's also helped me find details on a fig I used as a Techmarine variant that I had no idea where I got from.

Reaper Miniatures got a few nice highlanders miniatures. With some weapon snips, some might be looking good as Norse's lineman.

I guess, you know about the Greebo "Sno" minis?

They got a nice thrower, too.

Shameless bump, as I'm still looking.
Surely someone must still make Celtic-style figures, without ridiculous swords?

Interestingly enough I am in a similar predicament. I want to get a Norse team someday but haven't found a set I like. The difference is I have found linemen I like.

http://www.comixininos.com/blood-bowl-t ... tures.html

They are the Uscarl Scots range. I like the linemen but not keen on the rest of the team. OK they are in kilts not furs and there are only 2 models a fat one and a thin one.

I use these guys for my norse team along with 2 reaper bones werewolves for ulfwerners and a minotaur painted in timber wolf colors for a snow troll.

@Toffer - not keen on the linemen, but might look at the thrower and the runners (though I'd use them as linos).

@Duder - I looked into using them, but I wasn't convinced. Do you have any pics of them made up?

Personally, I would/have used Impact Valkyrie for lineman.
