WIP: Blood Bowl Chaos Warriors (updated Nov 15, 2013)

Post by Sir-Skofis »

Hello!
Right now I have a couple projects of miniatures from scratch, one is a Krox for the blood bowl lizardmen team, and the other one is a chaos warrior for a Chaos team.

This topic is for the second project. All begun with a sketch of what I wanted in a Blood bowl Chaos Warrior, basically some armoured big sized human with a dynamic pose. I usually convert the players from plastic miniatures but in this case it wasn't a good idea as the warhammer chaos warriors are rather static. So the sketch:
Image

As you can see in the sketch, I have the idea for two of the warriors: one running and other doing some kicking. I have also draw some ideas for the helmets.

Right after I finished with the sketch I built the structure for the running one using some wire and adding some volume with putty.

After that, my interest decreased a little bit and I've only been working on the model once or twice a week. So, after a month and a half the model isn't yet finished but I'm getting there:

Hope you like the work so far, I'll post new updates when I can.

Thanks to all of you.

I Just cut some wire and bent it, I compare the size with another "standar" size model to see if I have to do it again, I repeat the dummy until I'm happy with the results :D

I've done more work in the Chaos player.

In fact it is finished even if I haven't any pictures of the model in his finished state. Right now I'm trying to copy the model and I'm having some problems with the silicone that it is not curing (it hasn't cure in two weeks when it should have cured in 24 hours) searching for solutions I found one guy that said that it was better to let it cure more time even a month before giving up. If someone has a better solution I'm all ears.

Well, the pictures below are the last pictures I took from the model. right now the model have other feet with other kind of armour in them and some chaotic symbology in the upper legs protections and in the helmet. If you compare those pictures with the previous ones you will see that I've made some changes for instance the chainmail, but also I've change the legs and the knee pads. I decided to leave the back rather "clean" so there is enought space to paint the positional number on it.

I hope I can rescue the model from the silicone and I can do some copies to use as base for the other for warriors.

What kind of silicone? There are basically two, and one of them is very picky about contamination. If it gets in contact with something bad, it will not cure.

That's a really good question, I've tried to find out but I'm not sure if this information is useful is an elastomere called XIAMETER(R) RTV-3483 BASE. Is a white silicone.

I'm now thinking that I probably used it when it has passed its expiration date but I will have to check it.

I'm not sure if I'm wasting my time waiting for something to happen or even if I add some catalizer it would cure or I will just waste it.

Data sheet of those silicones. It isn't the kind that reacts badly to many contaminants (4xxx, addition, platinum catalyst, do). Maybe old, maybe not mixed properly.

Thanks, I think I will left it one more week and then see what happens, if it is not cured I will try to take the model out of there.

I finally rescued the model out and made a completely new mold and now I have copies of it.

The final Green looks like this:

I managed to paint one of the resin copies. That is not something that I usually do, I usually wait for my brother to paint the miniatures for me while I look at him with puppy eyes 8)

In the picture below you can see the Green alongside with the painted copy and an unpainted copy.

And in the picture below you can see the painted model from several angles

I have more pictures of the model individually and some that compares it with other models for scale purpose. You can see them on my blog:
