New models for old teams

Post by Gimpen »

Which team do YOU think is in most need of a total makeover?
Do you love to play a certain team but would like a new set of models?
As a sculptor these questions are very important as i have shitloads of ideas for almost all teams, but I don't know where to start.

Please use this thread to go bonanza on teamcreation. Describe what you want and miss in the minis avaliable on the market and hopefully we'll get a way better range of awesome models for the games we all love to play!

I'd say quality High Elves and Pro Elves are pretty underrepresented in the market. Orcs Dwarves Flings Goblins and (obviously) Humans all seem to exist in many iterations. There are several Amazon teams in process, so I'd avoid those.

Ogres and Lizardmen spin-offs/themes I would think could be very adaptable. What I mean is, use the smaller guy plus bigger guy theme, but don't necessarily make them lizards or ogres. Personally, I prefer well sculpted miniatures that are obviously ready to play a contact sport, over "themes" (mostly) such as pirate/roman/steam punk dwarves. Not always the case though - I do enjoy particularly creative teams. :)

I would like a generic Goblin football team, never been a fan of the weird themed ones, much like the WM Ultimate Halflings. http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/wm-ul ... tball-team

Elves - of any kind really. I would like to see some with a strong and funny/ cool theme. We're seing so many other teams with special themes lately.

Fx: Zulu/ african, Woodoo, athtecs?, aboriginals, guerilla, ninja, terrorists, punks, rebels, ect ect.

Pro Elves got a new team relatively recently. And though they are by no means perfect I reckon they are nicer than the WE, DE or HE teams from GW. There are heaps of much nicer elf models on the market and I include in that statement pretty much all of GW's recentish High Elf/Wood Elf minis. If they can put what they learned making the Warhammer Wood Elves (not the plastics I mean the way watchers and wardancers) and the 40k Dark Eldar and turn their attention to the WE/HE/DE teams for BB I would be happy.

I'd like to see the same for Dwarfs.
There aren't any good normal Fantasy Football Dwarf models, but loads of them with gimmicks.

Ideally I'd like to see modular versions of all teams, those steampunk Dwarfs did have that right at least.

Neomics (now owned by Gaspez) make an excellent quite standard looking Gobbo team, and Black Scorpion make a great, generic looking Dwarf team.

I'd like to see the Elf teams done well.
Black Scorpion have released a pro/wood elf team recently, which looks really nice in the flesh, but still isn't perfect by any means.

I agree, every Elfteam needs a makeover, but mostly of them it`s the darkelves. It seems hard for sculptors to combine typical darkelf style with poses which are dynamic, but not overdynamic. Personally I`d like to see a generic darkelf team, meaning one without stars or other symbolic stuff on their armor. Speaking of, I also think that helmets are kind of a must have, since the game resembles American Football from the background story. Excluded are the positions, where it`s hardly possible or simply doesen`t look good with helmets added, like the witchelves. But even there I´d like to see some kind of grid iron on their heads. It simply supports the style and flair of Blood Bowl.

It's absolutely dark elves for me, a team that actually looks mostly AV8 as well. I picked up a couple of boxes of Wych Elves to convert as they seem to be the most interesting out there but far from perfect.

They're not bad, the armour is about right, some of the poses are.....well, as someone who spends a lot of time laying his models down, I often worry about their fragility and if they will be clearly prone/stunned once they are down there...

They are probably (unless someone points me to a better team) the best out there, I also like their circus Gobbo's BTW!
