2nd ed plastic team colour variations - how many are there?

Yes, this is a very geeky question! But here goes: In the old 2nd ed box set came a human and an orc team. In the Dungeon Bowl box came an elf and a dwarf team. All of them in plastic. But! As you can see on the picture below, there have been several different colour variations:
Orc: Green, Red, Blue
Human: Green, Blue
Elf: Yellow
Dwarf: Orange x2 (one a bit brighter than the other)

Does anyone know, how many (and which) colours the different teams have been made in?
Does anyone know why? Were the colours random? Were the colours based on geographical location? Or is there a chronological order based on production year?
(Does anyone besides me care?..)

My old school plastics are many and varied.. pretty sure I have all those listed, would have to dig them out to see if I have any other variants.

All right.... After checking in my loft, I have:

Blue humans, Red orcs, orange elves and yellow dwarves in kerrunch



Yellow dwarves and darker orange elves in Dungeonbowl



Blue Orcs and red humans from my 2nd edition box
