Painted team - 2nd edition halflings

Post by HairyPete77 »

Now this team wasn't mine, it was my brothers. I was never the kind of kid to put a halfling team anywhere near a Blood Bowl pitch. I'd love playing against it though ;-) I remember that this was actually the team that my brother played with in the old GW league that we went to and he played them with a couple of ogres.

One of the trees was mine as I used to play it with my elves (I think).

The fingers didn't survive the years in the loft, in fact I don't think they survived us playing with them. I seem to remember that when they were placed prone that they would rest on the fingers which were pretty weak. Anyway my modelling skills didn't allow me to do much in terms of replacing them.

These were stripped from their original purple paint scheme and primed white.

It was a really really quick paint job this one and I didn't really intend doing them, it's just that I had nothing else ready at the time and wanted something to paint. The colour scheme is therefore very quick and it again uses the standard GW yellow selections. I find painting any sort of detail hard enough as it is but on these little guys is was impossible.

Hope they bring back some happy memories :-)

do you usually base your minis or go with the black bases?

Well..I don't really base them, no. These are actually old coloured bases painted black with some black sand pva'd on top. Odd I know but it is what I had around and I quite like the stark contrast with the yellow.

I love seeing other people's fantastically done bases with bits of grass and painted white lines etc but it's too much for me to do it myself. I don't have the time or the inclination at the moment. One day I will. I do want to get better at painting and modelling as I churn out more teams.

At the moment I prefer having things nice and even and simple. I like to be able to put the ball on the base etc and think about things in terms of playing matches rather than being the best painted/displayed; I would rather my opponents and I know each models position and number for example (although there are no numbers on these yet).
